Is POE 2 going to have male and female options for each class / character

As for the fanboy insults, it's kind of funny. Imagine going to a Laker game and being angry about all the Laker fans. Once you put it in that optic, it's easy to laugh off.

True, but at the same Laker game you see some guy in a Kobe jersey with his face painted purple and yellow, yelling at the opposing players wife/family/fans, and you think, "wow take it down a notch bro. We get it, you like the Lakers"

It's equally as funny.

There is more to it than just the fan thing in your post. To make it closer to the situation here:

Non-laker fan comes to a laker game to make fun of the lakers -- cool, whatever makes you happy I guess. They then get angry at all the Laker fans that are there and call them fanboys.

Then is shocked when the fans respond accordingly.

Yeah but that's basically trolling, and not representative of fans of the opposing team showing up a rooting for their team.

You can dismiss them to be honest, just like I would dismiss a Lakers fan in your example if all they really wanted to do was go to the game to harass the other teams fans.

Point is that it definitely goes both ways with obnoxious behavior.

I think you're losing objectivity to how things are going here. It definitely feels like you're painting the "opposing team fans" in some innocent light where they just showed up to the game to watch. That's not representative of how it's actually going down. To put things in perspective and relative to just you, you literally insisted that people say that Diablo is a good game in multiple threads as if it is some objective fact. In the Laker's instance, that feels a lot like an opposing team fan going to a Laker's game and screaming at the Laker fans about not liking their team.

I think there is over the top going on with both sides, but please don't pretend as if the Diablo fans are acting reasonably.

Sure, you may not have a problem with it, but that's because you're seeing these as "characters", which is 100% fair.

Something as simple as allowing people to change skin tone, hair styles, facial structures, and the like also go a long way towards helping people connect better, but being able to gender swap is considered the most basic of basic customizations. It's why diablo 3, when given the opportunity let people customize their character in some small sense, chose to do gender swapping, and it was enough, because no other ARPG (to my knowledge) had taken the steps to allow even THAT level of customization in character creation.

I may be able to play a class of any gender now, but I would be lying if I didn't say that gender locking has turned me off of A LOT of games, including this one for a while. People just like customization.

Complete waste of valuable work time and resources and goes against the established design of these characters. A Marauder is a Karui man and he has his own story, just like the Witch, the Duelist etc. These are all established identities, they were never just templates you can edit for you to vicariously live through them. And from a development standpoint it also makes no sense, allow all of this customization for what? For you to cover up your character in armor and mtx and never see your edited character, in other such games you can at least see the face but this is an isometric game it just wouldn't work.

You're also a niche, you and the handful of you being ''turned off by gender locker characters'' are like a rounding error for ggg to bother doing all of this work and wasting millions of dollars to make this just to satisfy an irrelevant fraction of a percent of the playerbase, if you're truly willing to give up on everything this game has to offer and refuse to appreciate it just because you can't make a female Duelist, then I don't think you were ever meant to play the game anyway. You have 3 female characters to choose from and 4 male ones, if that can't satisfy your quirky needs, then feel free to go play any of the dozen other games which allow such customization.
HC balance should be separate from SC I don't care which outdated 1993 game dev philosophy this goes against. youtube/twitch.tv/DESPAIR268

REVERT SUNDER :) REVERT SEISMIC CRY :) REVERT IMPALER :) REVERT GAME :)) MAKE DUALWIELD GREAT AGAIN :)

Add a MTX that changes your character's model to the others if that's *such* an issue. Depending on how it's coded, shouldn't be that hard.

Cause and effect, and escalation. PoE players started shitting on D4, some D4 players that just happen to play PoE started replying, on and on. And in fact, PoE players are mislabeling others as D4 fans simply because they don't agree with them. Some PoE "hardcore" players have no qualms to label me a D4 fanboy, when the truth is that i just don't subscribe to some of the bs they are saying. Haven't played since D2, too.

I have over 6k hours of PoE, i still won't blindly defend PoE.

Sure some are not acting in good faith. No doubt. Welcome to the internet. I mean you been to PoE Reddit before. This is not exclusive D4 behavior by any stretch

But still if the expectation was that the other teams fans show up and must sit in silence in a public venue, well that was never going to happen. And really, good intentioned banter is totally acceptable, and can be fun/entertaining. When it gets personal, and specific it certainly loses its appeal imo.

If you honestly believe that it's impossible to have a discussion on D4 (or any arpg) vs PoE here then we won't ever get past that. I think people have the abiltiy, for the most part, to sift through the bs threads and comments.

I would reference this as my personal thought about the discussions:

These are discussions about Diablo and POE, it's only fair everyone shares their opinions on the topic.

This is from my quote that started this back and forth.

I definitely don't believe people should be able to make D4 vs POE threads and not have opposing opinions enter those threads. That's just ridiculous.

I was pointing out the ad hominem targeted at people and laughing at that specific part of the discussions.

I personally think there's a problem with just considering it a "character", yet the players are still allowed to name the "character". There's sometimes a sense of "you can make this uniquely yours" when you allow people to do something like name the thing or person they're playing as, which I think is where your understanding may trip up a bit.

The reason it bothers so many people that they can't swap gender AT LEAST (more customization options is always better, of course) is because it almost completely takes away the axis of customization and personalization, and can make it harder for people to connect with or care about the thing they're playing as, especially when it's treated as something that should be relatively faceless. The player characters are just called by their classes. "Shadow", "Witch", "Marauder". These are very generic.

Something as simple as allowing people to change skin tone, hair styles, facial structures, and the like also go a long way towards helping people connect better, but being able to gender swap is considered the most basic of basic customizations. HA. Way back when, I used to play a game called marble madness in the arcade, you couldn't customize jack. I cared more about that marble falling then I have about any character I could "personalize."

Hah, that game was frustrating as hell. I played it on the original Nintendo way back in the day.
