A note of thanks to GGG - celebrating my 10 years of POE

Today my POE account reached the grand milestone of being 10 years old. This is a remarkable thing (for me at least). So I thought I would pen a few thoughts to commemorate the occasion.

I would not have expected that when I first watched Kripparian play this game with weird 90s vibe character models ( and goofy disco balls (charges were really something back then :D), that I would still be actively playing this game a decade later.

This is, and might be, the only game I had constantly come back to over a 10-year period, and my love affair with this game doesn't look like it would be ending any time soon. It is the first game that I've spent more than a grand on (you're welcome, Chris). And which game con was the first, and only, I had attended - Exilecon 2019 was such a great experience. It is no hyperbole to say POE will probably be THE defining game of my life.

As much as I had my ups and downs with the hits and misses with each POE patch, I have to admit the overall experience had been quite the ride. Not forgetting GGG Support, which has to be the best gaming support EVER from even POE's earliest days.

So thank you GGG for this once in a lifetime experience. Keep doing what you're doing (just give me back OG Harvest, pretty please?). And I'll see you folks again at Exilecon 2023 ;)

Precisely why I started playing PoE as well.

Glad you were able to stick around and enjoy the game. You would think in 10 years that they would be able to tell you why you died in game eh!?

I think I’ve seen quite a few old timers started out the same way :) it’s good to see Kripp leaning back into POE (at least more publicly) the last few leagues.

Haha. Ikr. But I suspect a lot of QoL that are a long time coming may make their way into POE2? Or maybe just my wishful thinking!

Perhaps so. At any rate, it should give my mouse wheel a break any time I peruse the forum and see your esteemed contributions. :P

edit: PoE is also the defining game of my middle-aged life, but Crohn's is the defining disease and ramen the defining food, so I'm not sure that means all that much. I didn't find any wives with PoE, so it's still somewhat behind Diablo 1 and IRC. Then again, I think I genuinely SPENT more on PoE than my first wife (all she wanted for alimony was repair money for her pick up truck), so there's that I guess.

I kinda feel the same, my 10th PoEniversary is a few weeks in the future, though.
