Eldritch Altars FAQ

After introducing Altars 3 leagues ago or 9 MONTHS(!!!) ago GGG now thinks they are "too rewarding"? Since you (GGG) point it out JUST NOW that they are "too rewarding" how "too rewarding" can they really be? IF Altars are really "too rewarding" then why didn't you nerf them into the ground 2 leagues ago with 3.18?

You completely ignore the changes they did to Altars in the last leagues. What you request here is that they should nerf them massively right away, instead of in steps. But doing it in steps is a much better approach, as it prevents them overnerfing, having to buff it, to not get it right again and so on.
I see markers drop a lot so that's probably ok for scarabs. Can you please make sure to clarify that by "map bosses" for Maven you mean "maps that count towards the 10 maps for Maven" and not stuff like guardians? Those rotas don't need buffing in any way and actually makes people less likely to run the 10 map boss rotas for Maven.

"Are you nerfing Heist and Expedition rewards?"

Why was this question germane to a Q&A about eldritch altars?

With mapping rewards from archnemesis and altars seemingly both being gutted severely the thinking on social media was that Heist and Expedition would both also be gutted to compensate, as they are one of the only alternatives to generate a decent currency return per hour /played. It's good to know they will still be there. Otherwise speed rushing map bosses to maximize invitations per hour would be the only proper way to play.

Sir, the altars are already massively nerfed. You will see come league launch when the community is outraged over the lack of loot just like they were last league. In fact nerfing altars only compounds how bad the loot is in this game. I expected buffs to loot this league and we've gotten nothing but the opposite. What has replaced loot goblins? What has replaced the league bonus they gutted this league? Are you ready for 20 divine inspired learnings based on the sweet new drop rates? Crickets............. GGG, I'm scared. You guys are becoming something else that I can't say with your censorship ready to sweep it up.

The best thing to do is to finish killing the surrounding monsters before reading the Altar.

Then please make altars remove all hostile ground effects and on-death effects in a radius of approx. 1 screen.

While you're at it, please also add such "no bullshit zones" around mechanics that require you to open up UI elements that block the screen, like the lake tablets in Kalandra, or things such as Betrayal.
Please remember to buff up other content instead of nerfing expedition or heist.
I should be somewhat excited to engage with a breach/ a ritual / a harbinger / an abyss (especially the abyss chest) /delve / alva /beasts / kirac and in the current state of the game they might as well be removed.
Also please return reforge keeping crafts, because crafting in it's current form feels abhorrent.
But hey. At least Torment is cool.
Also adding rusted scarabs to the core mod pool is cool and the keystone rework looks like it will prevent people from diying to it a bunch.
Very cool.

We've discussed community feedback around this, specifically to consider options around instance-pausing, colour indicators or reward symbols. Each of these options has their own drawbacks so we won't be making any changes on this front for now. The best thing to do is to finish killing the surrounding monsters before reading the Altar.

Would be great if you guys would include examples of problems you think using a reward icon on altars would present. Having to clear out all mobs around the altar, stop mapping, start reading and then make a decision is kind of annoying and breaks up the pace of the game.

All we need now is the loot manifesto

Did any loot get buffed? Loot already felt sparse in low maps. Ran out of alchs and annoyingly chaos recipe was a necessity to accomplish anything. Nerfing eldritch altar loot just removes more loot from what already felt like a pretty dry pool.
