Logitech LCD Keyboards - G19 , G15 , G13 , G510 ect

Since lots of people want this, but no-one seems to understand what's necessary and what isn't, here's a little extra info for anyone replying in this thread.

The way the LCD displays work (which seems to be a standard flow/format) is that some process directly sends data to the display. This is completely seperate from the other functions of the device, apart from the buttons that control the display (you control one screen, you can force that screen to be shown, but if someone switches there's not really anything you can do about that).

To work Logitech LCD display support into PoE, they will have to learn how to work with the LCD SDK, send all data to memory, and then send that to the display. Whether this data is stats like DPS, exp/s, total exp, exp til next level, an exp bar or a map, it will all require the devs to get the data and send it. In case of something special like an exp bar or map they will also have to write custom code to handle this, and somehow get the data small enough to send at a decent rate.

Basically, what it comes down to is not a ton of work, but quite the hassle. As far as we know GGG they care about the game and they want it to be perfect, but they're still a company, and a company has to think about profit. Adding LCD display support isn't going to help them do that. It will give them another plus, prove how much they care about the game, but it would also mean that they'll have to keep this up for all other kinds of displays and custom gamegear around. If from a sales PoV it was worth it there'd be no reason whatsoever not to do it, since it's not something that will take a lot of time (it'd be an 0.0.x patch, not yet an 0.x but not an 0.0.0x either). But keeping in mind that it won't get them any extra profit, and how much other people will start suggesting similar ideas (which in that case they can't really say no to), it's risky and should only be done if it happens 'accidentally'. If after a company night out one of the devs plugs in his G13 and is like 'yeah I'd like to see the map on my display', and pushes it out on a weekend, he should still get his hours paid. But setting it as a goal, how awesome that might be, simply isn't going to happen.

So long story short; it's cool, it will prove how awesome GGG is, but it's not worth the time and outbreak of ideas within the regular update schedule.

Think of all the things you could show / display. Fps / latency instead of having it on the screen all the time DPS ect.

More customers - Logitech post all patch updates / lcd changes on their site people will see your game and become interested in it.

Another way of interacting with the customers, you could have a different background for each new area. You can even Take full control of all the keys, Have the keyboard flash with lightning effects, Glow red and bloody when you die and so much more.
