Chris POE is now a bad Diablo clone...
So I returned to try this game after seeing all the bad reviews on youtube. Most of the complaints don't bother me that much, cos fuck the team map juicers I only play casual solo and I don't spend my free time to work another job on POE.
Yes getting 2 exalts only to find out divine is the new exalt is very disappointing.. but that's just bad luck for my part. Yes the nemesis mods are bit too strong but thats just cos I suck. But what I realized after a few days of play is that this game no longer supports creativity. I remember what made me play POE over diablo is due to the variety of creative builds people played. remember Malth took scourge arrow and played lightning convert? Remember poets pens volatile dead? Remember Vaal Blade vortex elementalist? remember herald of agony builds? and so many other builds I cant even name it all. You could take any skill and play pretty much anyway you like and find a way to make it work. Sure it might not 1 shot elder but you can manage t15 maps and have a lot of fun playing the way you wanted. And it felt like the wild west where new fun builds are just waiting to be discovered and I was trying different things trying to uncover that next out of the box build. The question after every league was, "what should I play next?" Today the question is "what can I play next?" Have you considered maybe you can retain people for longer if you give them lots of options to play instead of just making the same garbage grindier and make the numbers on a spread sheet higher? Only 4 people sometimes login in my friends list and ALL OF THEM Plays RF inquisitor LOL I ask one of them to show me the awesome new item for this league, he linked me a pair of influenced gloves with 15 fire pen as implicit. I mean WOW how long did it take for your team to ad an existing mod into the implicit slot. How much of my life i need to gamble away to get that I wonder. I am obviously not a game developer and not as smart as you Chris. But I honestly can't agree this game is the same game from 24 months ago. Honestly I thought I would buy a support pack if I could just get a little bit of nostalgia from playing casually. but Nope... it looks like POE sounds like POE but why does it feel like a poorly coded overly convoluted version of diablo 3? I am literally falling asleep playing this game during day time... Thanks for not reading, I wish for you to sell lots of MTX Sincerely BSA Last edited by BaneslayerAngel#1843 on Oct 30, 2022, 2:11:42 PM Last bumped on Nov 1, 2022, 4:33:53 AM

Yup, it's why I skipped playing this league. PoE is just not as much fun to play anymore. Diablo 3 is more fun for me.

There is so much fundamentally bad design right now I don't think a new league mechanic is going to fix it

I see no comparison from PoE to Diablo 2 or Diablo 3. It's really strange how people compare it.
For the record, D2 is my favorite game ever. I have played it (and every single mod I could find) since it was released back...damn...20 years ago. I played D3 for a solid 5 years. Wasn't my favorite, but I still put a lot of time in. I played and continue to play PoE since the BETA. So I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about all 3 games. Nothing in OPs post compares THIS game to any form of Diablo. It appears to just be some random comparison he picked up reading other posts or parroting youtube/twitch videos. The gameplay is different, the speed is different, the loot is different, the way the story and endgame work is different, the TRADE system is totally different....I'm not sure what there is that's actually similar. I guess the genre? They are both arpgs I guess lol. There is plenty wrong with PoE right now, but it definitely doesn't have anything to do with how it is trying to be diablo or any other game. PoE is still quite unique in it's entire format. Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Oct 31, 2022, 7:07:51 AM

New version of Median XL came out recently and I thought of giving it a shot because this mod is my favorite version of Diablo II.
I can't play it anymore. It feels too ancient. POE set my action RPG standards too high i guess. I remember playing it heavily 3-4 years ago where i was able to reach endgame uberquests and level my character to 135 (max is 150 and is even harder to hit than 100 in POE). Nowadays I get bored of it in act 2 normal. Even with revamped bloodzon and with quickcast. |

" that's just the way it is with people, as soon as they got what they wanted, they leave. this happened with the folks who wanted instanced loot, the ones who wanted a stronger and longer endgame, now the ones who more or less removed the labyrinth challenge, and it happened to the ones who wanted archnemesis mods nerfed to inexistance. why? some people ask for changes cause they fail them, it's the old "if you can't win a game by the rules, just change the rules" and then they realise the rules made the game fun or they still suck even after they changed the rules :) age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" Since you quoted my post I'll respond. You are completely wrong and have no clue what you are talking about when hypothesizing about me and my motivations. You are even wrong on the facts. While I may have been the most vocal about the not fun non-ARPG game play in the Labyrinth, there were many that hated it much worse than I did. Thank you for trying to give me credit for GGG making the Labyrinth more palatable but I believe a GGG thread deserves the most credit for GGG making this decision. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1899252 In that thread there were almost 200 different people that voiced their disgust with the Labyrinth and most of them had not ever previously posted about Labyrinth in the Feedback and Suggestions forums. "If your goal is mapping, you can play pretty much anything - you can reach T16 maps with pretty much any spell on a tabula rasa. Then upgrade from there. However, if you want to complete 30+ maps per hour, facetank or clear uber content, then your build requires some optimizations (and expensive items). That's why we play after completing atlas, right? To optimize our build to complete harder content and more efficiently? If you want to do ubers on 200 chaos budget, then yeah, there are few builds you can play to achieve this goal, but generally they are clunky to play - not everyone enjoys traps/mines/cremation/etc. |

" dang you found it :) no personal offense meant though. i just wanted to point to the general pattern in people's argumentation. they want a easier game but also more "fun" and as soon as they get it, the game becomes "boring". "fun" should be "overcoming challenges" but what challenges can a game provide to players who just copy "instructions on how to play in the most effective way" some professionals provide? this thread is not different, it's symptom fighting without asking for the underlying reasons. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" My reading of the OP was not that he had an issue with game difficulty. He was complaining about his perception that build diversity has suffered. " Admittedly there's a link between game difficulty and what builds work but I think build diversity may be at a relatively low point at this point in time but I don't consider myself very knowledgeable on this specific topic so I'm not trying to make that argument myself.
