Vaal Storm Call
It's more a standard build for min-maxer's (a.k.a. the best aurastacker version in ssc), had the cursioty about the helm enchant. We end up with a big analisys about how the skill work and what was the optimal setup.
Vaal Storm Call, Helm enchant or not? TLDR: Yes helm enchant is a MUST… but also reduce wheel @ Magebane, and also Swift Affliction Support. And has been tested. Not using Swift Affliction is 12% dps loss. Not using that and reduce wheel is 58% loss. Not using anything just Less Duration is 125% dps loss. The same amount of damage that 1 second with Enchant, Swift Affliction, reduce wheel. Why helm enchant is the best, because at the end of the first cast the helm enchant doesn’t increase the strikes per second, and since you can precast should not matter. If we treat the target as static this applies but the 99% or targets are constantly moving and therefore if they move we can’t precast and the scenario of starting at 0 cast and strikes applies. The Canvas: The grid is 1 second x 1 second, the blue column is made of 30 squares in X → of 0.033 seconds x 0.033 seconds (server clock tic), in Y ↑ we represent the pass of time. Each dot represents a VSC strike, and are laying down in rows, each row represents a separate cast. At the beginning (a) we start with the minimum strikes per second then we “accelerate” to our maximum strikes per second after the first casts ends (b), from there it doesn’t increase further (c). a. At the start of the first cast b. Maximum strikes per second at the end of the first cast c. Still at same strikes per seconds image (b) How to increase our DPS? We can increase our average hit, our cast speed and reduce our duration between strikes. Animation is increasing cast speed Animation is the passing of time The tested configurations: 1. Helm enchant (30%), Less duration Support (21/23) or (23/20), Swift Affliction Support, and Reduce Wheel (3.39m average hit) 2. Helm enchant (30%), Less duration Support (21/23), and Reduce Wheel (4.32m average hit) 3. Helm enchant (30%), Less duration Support (21/23) (5.00m averga hit) 4. Less duration Support (21/23) (5.00m average hit) *The variation of average hit its because we lose dps passives and support gems with different setups. Option 3 and 4 are the same since we only change the helm enchant. Damage over time, X → each square is 1 second, Y ↑ each square is 1 billion dps. Each option has the same amount of area of damage as option (1), without helm enchant (4) it takes almost 2 seconds more to reach the damage of option (1). Strikes per second and Server tic: It's know from other buils such as CoC that the server tick is 0.033s and thats our maximum amount of actions per cast, going beyond that we lose strikes per cast. Each blue square represents a tic from the server, we want to get as much dots together without overlapping in the same square. (4) 55 strikes in 0.99s (3) 77 strikes in 0.99s (2) 115 strikes in 0.99s (1) 142 strikes in 0.99s (1) with Legacy helm enchant (45%) 117 strikes in 0.99s Conclusion: Helm enchant is a must like it is Less Duration Support Gem, with the addition of Impossible Escape with Magebane we are able to reach the reduce wheel with out wasting points and this makes it a must too. For the last we have Swift Affliction Support, in paper it's arround 37% more strikes per second, so If your 6th support doesn't gives more than that you shoudl use it, also there is a better QoL with on hit effects with it. In option one using Less Duration Support 21(+2)/23 is a lose of strikes, so don't use it. The more average hit you have, the better it is swift affliction. Thanks to ABVT and Aufglet for help me testing. Edit: Changed from 25% to 37% the Swift Affliction compartive with other damage support gem. Also some typos. The innocent players wont even know what kind of build you referring to with the Vaal Storm Call :).
Nevertheless good information for current undisputed best of all builds in std. Last edited by zzang#1847 on Jul 23, 2022, 12:35:18 PM

With the additionof Dusk Rings, the best setup will be:
30% Helm Enchant 15% Dusk ring 15% Window of Opportunity 5% Reduce skill duration passive Less Duration 21(+2 from chest)/23 This this seupt up will can use a Damage multiplier support and we also gain 1 passive since we aren't using anymore 2x Reduce skill duration passives. That should be about 20%+ more damage/dps at least from previous setup. |

Update
The optimal setup in POB should be a duration of 0.825s that will give the max strikes per cast, 27. VSC does 1 hit at the start and 1 hit at the end regardless of the duration. This was tested while doing 100% reduced duration. Was doing 3 hits. Also while pass the breakpoint of 0.825s you start lossing strikes due to the overlap with the server tick. Anything below of 0.825s should be doing 26 strikes instead of 27, that only comes with the perfect alignment with the server tick. Also for matter in dps you should check the box of Full DPS and add the correct amount of strikes per second (not per cast) doing a simple math. Strikes per second = (1 / VSC Duration) * 26 This way you should be able to really compare the value of reduced duration. Last edited by akaflux#6374 on Sep 22, 2023, 10:03:08 PM
