Standard Map Conversion is a Mess

Give me a reason to buy this $90.00 supporter pack with the crafting benches.

So hello two year old thread...

...I am gazing fondly at my map tabs...

...yet again, in what has become a tri-annual festivus of finger cramps and frustration.

Nothing so swell as having 3 types of map packed to the max - with so many extra the map tabs (plural) can't all convert - and 3 types that are completely devoid of maps.

I don't use void-stones. At all. Even than, I am buried in some maps, while other - more desirable (weighted?) maps slots are completely empty.

The only recourse is to sell them, costing me 3 maps to every 1 I get - until I reach t-16 - at which point, I have to pitch the excess? I have 3 map tabs + guild stash tab that are overflowing with the same maps.

(If you do nothing but convert maps, you will eventually, over time, end up with hundreds of one map for each tier - and empty slots for the rest - this is a mathematical certainty eventually).

This is unmanageable. I work hard to build nice balanced map tabs, only to loose about 25% of my total maps every 3 months. I play standard so I don't have to deal with a continual grind.

Really really awful. The standard map tab used to work nicely, and convert every league swap over.

Now it eats my maps and forces me to spend a weekend selling/converting so I have at least one functional current map tab.

Couple this with the fact that old maps don't use your Atlas Passive Tree when you run them, and frankly, I am feeling rather neglected.

It is way better now by not touching the remove-only tab at all and only pick a few maps such as low tier unique (and check is it higher tier in current atlas) or Guardian Map to selective convert


free remove-only = free storage of map



One draw back is the "Shaped" unique map still revert to base tier and this bug has not been fix for like 3 years

why even convert them? you get a fresh tab each patch. just pull a few out your remove only and vendor them or just run the old ones and start collecting fresh ones. I really dont see the issue, i also dont see the need to convert them all when they are fine just sitting in remove only map tab. I play standard and have no issues with it.

That's only 1 of the problems.


When you vaal a map, the outcomes are:

1. No effect (other than adding the corrupted property).

2. Reroll the item with random affixes. Rare maps will have 4-6 affixes.
When a map is rerolled this way, it has about a 50% chance to have its map tier increased by one and consequently its map base changed to a suitable map.


3. Convert into a rare tier 16 Vaal Temple Map

4. Reroll the map into a rare item with exactly eight random affixes, retaining the map base.

5. Add a special Vaal implicit mod.

HOWERVER.....

Standard players face the issue with vaaling old series maps.
I have a built up supply of Cemetery maps.
If I want to chisel, alch, vaal them, I will lose 30% of them.
Because they convert from t16 Cemetery into new t16 natural maps. (Volcano, Castle Ruins, Lava Chamber, Plateau)
Note #2 outcome above.
(this does not apply, as it's already a t16 map)

So not only do I need to take them out of my remove only tabs first to chisel, alch, vaal them, I lose 30% of them as they convert into natural t16's.

I prefer the system to actually work - as it once did. I also don't want a million locked remove only tabs. Additionally, it becomes a pain to pre-roll and craft my maps - or even sort the things when you have 72 of a map and another 50+ of what will convert to the same map in a remove only tab.

When I bought the map tabs they worked as expected. Then they stopped working correctly when the developers began adding and removing maps from the atlas each league - and in proceeding years, this broken system has not been repaired. It is perfectly reasonable that I expect something I paid money for to work in the way it did when I paid for it.

This is a problem that still needs to be fixed but I'm not playing PoE until the game is made fun again anyway.
