Please let us aim skills with controllers

I'm really enjoying being able to play on controller, but also sad about how many skills that just aren't as interesting to play with because we don't have any kind of control over targeting. Anything which requires specific placement, anticipating enemy movement, or targeting through enemies is simply not available to controller players, and that's a real shame, since the varied skill behavior is definitely this game's biggest strength to me.

There are various wholly acceptable ways controllers have dealt with targeting over the years, mainly:
- Sacred 2's holding the skill button down, moving the reticle with the stick, then activating the skill on release
- the simple two button press version of the above
- setting range based on how long a button is held (having the reticle move out the aim line is more precise, and the option to move inward from max range can especially suit some skills)

I'm not saying the current simple targeting should go away. I'm sure some people like playing without having to deal with targeting, and it should definitely be maintained as an option, but it'd be great to also have one or two methods of targeting for those of us who want richer, more interesting gameplay.

Good luck.

Console has been out for years, and suffered skills not working properly or viable because of this very issue, and they never added that function.
Sorry you've had to deal with that all this time, then. I figured I probably wouldn't be heard (KB+M based developers rarely seem to care much about the controller side of things), but felt I had to say something, since it drastically limits the scope of my enjoyment of the game. Just couldn't leave it without contributing something, you know?
Yeah, it's sad if basically playable is all they really aspire toward.

I suggested directly to them years ago how they could let controller players do so much of the work to see what could play well, if they just lean into something like Steam Input a little. Instead we get this clumsy dictating how we play and how we're allowed to aim. They even go so far as to disable keyboard and mouse mixing with controller, to sabotage having any alternative to their mapping.

Just, a shame. The way many devs nowadays treat controller players like they have flippers or something is not only weak, it's downright hurtful.
