try running the installer as "an administrator".

when I create a folder it is empty after installation. when I install the game where the installer wants, there is no folder there

did you check your "security" software if that's blocking it / maybe try turning it off ?

Also are you changing any settings doing the installation ?? Like trying to install it on another drive then the C drive ?

the game uses the following locations:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\
c:\Users\HVZX\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile\
c:\Users\HVZX\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile\

you have to give more details, like which operating system you use.

did you install the game as a user with admin rights or a normal user?



if you use win10 and installed as a normal user and have the uac (user account control) activated, it should have prompted you to allow modifications on this pc.

I installed as administrator and normal user and nothing. I had poe installed on a different drive than the C drive.

I have the same problem.

On Windows 10 (1809) it says`: can't connect to the patching server ... ok
Firewall, Virus scanner, smart screen all disabled.
The log says: ***** LOG FILE OPENING *****
Nothing more.

On Windows 8.1 it can connect and download.

Maybe some runtime checks missing?

will reinstalling windows help? I can do it for me it's no problem.

I was able to download and install and start it in windows 8.1.

But when I start the same .exe on windows 10 I get this message in the logs:

the client says: unable to connect to patching servers.

I got it running with a full network stack reset.

device manager
uninstall network adapter (without removing the driver)
search for new hardware

cmd as admin
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset

reboot.

Don't do this if you dont know what these commands do!!!
