What is your game of the year 2021?
Mine is Valheim.
What's yours? Did you try turning it off and on again? Last bumped on Apr 29, 2022, 11:24:04 AM

I wish I could answer this as confidently and concisely as you, OP, but fucked if I even remember what I was playing a few months ago let alone all year. What even came out this year? What got a solid update? What did I play most regardless of release? Makes me almost sad I stopped shooting PoE because that would have been an easy answer while I was still using.
Maybe FFXIV. We got into that about a year ago and went hard until July or so. But the one game that never leaves my recently played on ps screen is For Honor. I still play Buriedbornes and Titan Quest on my tablet every day. I started playing both five tablets ago now. Last night I played a little BuriedBornes in bed and then it was 5am when my OP Swordmaster hit an enemy with Reflect and took 3 million damage, which was only a bit more than his 1300 or so health... Wildermyth redefined procedural rpg narrative and blew my mind... Recently I played a LOT of Disciples: Liberation for its charming if flawed mix of HoMM and more traditional RPG... ...and yet I think I had absolutely the most fun and excitement playing the Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origins demos. They were ugly as fuck and clearly a work in progress but Final Fantasy 1 reimagined as a Nioh game (itself a quicker, more loot based Soulsalike) is one of those things I never knew I always wanted. So there's my answer, even though it might be a great flop of 2022. SOPFFO was my top gaming experience of 2021. Sorry, not really what you asked but what you asked has way too many interpretations and that's mine. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.
Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild. |

Always feel free to type away :-) I think people know by now I can log quite a rant around here.
Some titles I never heard of I'll take a peek at. Cheers edit: removed quote as post is adjacent Did you try turning it off and on again? Last edited by kaepae#2068 on Dec 23, 2021, 1:16:45 AM

Tales or Arise
Such a dramatic change to the gameplay compared to old games, but so much better. I hope they keep this for future games, though my thumbs would disagree ;) I never lose.

Mmm I keep seeing it on sale at a minor reduction but like a lot of other titles also on sale it leaves me wondering if I'd buy it and either clear room to DL it or more likely just let it sit in my collection until on a whim I browsed months later and remembered it was there.
And that's the real reason I don't have a game of the year for 2021. I only have room both on my ps5 hdd and in my life for games I know I will play. And so few of those came out this year. It's all been about gaming as comfort food for me. But sure, I bought mechwarrior 5 and ff7r and melty blood and I can't remember what else. Kakarot. Dbfz. Maybe one of those will be my goty in a few years. Or maybe Tales of Arise will. I'll grab it just in case. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

" +1 Not that I played a lot of other games, but I played the hell out of Valheim. ~ I have selective hearing, and today, you have not been selected.

I have enjoyed Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart a lot.
It Takes Two was also great. 3rd game is not from this year - Risen - very nice game .) Last edited by Rexeos#3429 on Dec 25, 2021, 9:13:06 PM

Gloomhaven. They turned the best board game ever created into one of the best role playing strategy games as well which is hard to do.

Well was only beta, but Lost Ark by a long shot.

" It’s a great game but I’m not sure it’s game of the year material since it’s technically been around for 4 years. |
