Former PoE supporters: what have you been spending on?

bought a forest parcel from one neighbour. It's gonna be a lot of work for some months or years, is actually in a bad state of care.
Working in my own forest is my favorite 'passion', beats playin poe at ease. stuff like cutting timber, doing the thinning and maintenance, planting young trees where needed ...

Whoa a personal forest. That's fucking cool. How did that come to be?

Runescape taunts me on tablet fairly constantly. It sits on the same classic 'there's a boat I missed long ago' shelf as Ultima Online and Ragnarok. From what I can tell if you were into it you were REALLY into it. Bit like me and Eq or DAoC I guess.

Is Brother Laz still maintaining XL? I heard he'd had a bit of a crisis at some point. I don't much care for the drama and believe we all owe him a debt of gratitude for his work on the bridge between D2 vanilla and PoE. But if he's a pariah, well, that happens too.

Long ago I tried to convince GGG to do a monthly sub model. Even though itd be purely aesthetic of course, I think the mere stigma of subscriptions at the time left a bad taste in their devoted f2p mouths. OTOH maybe it just wasn't as potentially profitable as their existing model.

A new faucet for the master bathroom and tiles for the sinks backsplash.

While staying at my sister's place, I visited a local flea market (the biggest in our country) and was amazed by all the junk people keep.

In a world addicted to junk, I luckily adopted a minimalist lifestyle long ago to make sure all that crap doesn't get in my way.

So one could ask, what do you do with your cash? Personal growth and education. And most of it can be found online, so no need to spend much on books either.

I love to buy e-books and then get physical copies if they're worth owning rather than just 'reading'.

And then if I REALLY love the book, I'll defile it with my notes and thoughts. My copy of Eco's Foucault's Pendulum is a complete mess but each underline and each scrawled ponderance is a memory for me, like a photograph only in a code I barely understand half the time.

Conversely, I really don't like getting physical copies of shit books. For a while there, the GF had a Christmas game where she'd buy me a random fantasy novel as long as it had a hooded or cloaked figure on the cover. Needless to say, this resulted in me owning some stuff I'd otherwise never touch.

And then at the end of that thought train, I DO love collecting books of coverart, manga art, D and D stuff...My 'Art of Dragonlance' from the 90s fell apart long ago and I've had to replace it...twice. I also kickstarted Larry Elmore's amazing solo art book which is this glorious tome with one of those weird soft covers that just scream extravagance.

...I often debate the difference between a collector and a hoarder. I THINK the quintessential difference is a collector spends as much time figuring out how to display/preserve what they're accumulating, whereas a hoarder just accumulates because they can't stand the thought of either letting something go OR they think they might have some need for whatever they're accumulating...someday.

I am a collector, and very proud of it. :)

Same. I first read the pdf-version and if the book is exceptionally good, I'll buy the physical edition. Now to be fair, I know a very good site where you can get book pdf's of pretty much anything for 'free'. I just don't like spending money on a book that once you read it, is actually crap and is taking up space in my bookshelf. What I do is not really legal but getting these free pdf books is like getting free demos of games back in the day. A demo could give you a pretty good idea if a game was worth it to spend money on or not.

I like to keep my favourite books in pristine condition. If I want to add my thoughts and own reasonings, I'll make a summary of a scientific book with my personal notes, with pen and paper.

I don't like it as well. Most of these items (that I don't like) I gift away and put them in little free libraries spread over the country. From now on my closest connections, just ask what I desire. Ok, you lose the element of surprise but at least you get something what you want.

All art I own is just digital art. You can put it all on a usb-stick and it doesn't take much space. If this crazy world ever decides to put everything on a blockchain, I at least got the digital copies in my posession. This doesn't mean I don't value physical art. For example I do keep those comic books that tell a great story AND feature amazing art.

I know when my parents will pass away, I will inherit quite a large painting collection. I could use some pieces but most will be sold off I guess.
