[3.18] Gryph's Tank Simulator - A Detonate Dead Ignite Elementalist

Thoughts on best method to make Unearth work SSF? Good multi-corrupts are basically impossible. And Empower/Enhance is a crapshoot.

Using Spectres now and its pretty good but the inconsistency is very frustration.

Seems hard to me. You want 10 phys/dex gem levels from somewhere, and really, 5 of those have to come from the lab enchant. You're going to need to run 500 labs or something to get your ~70% shot at hitting it.

But let's say you do. Cold Iron Point, and +2 gems from randomly corrupted gloves perhaps? Also helmet or even aegis aurora is doable, we only have the links on gloves because of Hands of the High Templar. CIP is a pretty common unique, but there's no way to target farm it outside the normal chance/etc path.

Perhaps you can get +2 on an amulet eventually (needs 82 bases, so hard to farm without already having good damage, plus of course you need to be able to kill Sirus reliably), but that's going to take a while. Then you can get +2 from amulet, +2 from gloves, +1 from a weapon - much more doable.

Without the helmet enchant, +2 on amulet, +2 on gloves, +3 on weapon with CIP, and it's still not in a great spot. You'd need empower 3 by this stage, and we're only 9 levels now. Drop the shield, for 2x +2 wands? Tough to get to that.

Double corruption on gloves seems impractical. Farming empower 4 with div cards seems impractical. All the routes look impractical to me.

But yes, regarding the phys to fire mastery it's for the Physical Explosion scaling. Shaper of Flames Ascendancy gives +25% more ignite damage when the hit igniting is primarily Fire damage. And since we scale fire damage generically it also makes the actual hit of the explosion more impactful.

Okay, thanks!

Well, first step would be getting Phantasmal Unearth, right? xD Gotta farm Blueprints for that.
You *can* just use normal Unearth it's just actually like half damage.

The Helmet enchant is also important for damage. 50% more damage alone. Which is doable but requires some grinding. But again, a nice project to work towards. Can maybe get lucky drop from Enchanted Helmet reward chests in blight or something.

While Aegis Aurora is BiS you can always use a life or ES recovery on block rare shield. OR One of the +2 socketed gems shields to boost unearth. The defense scaling I went with in this build is very item dependent, but it's not like you *need* those for the build to work.

If you want a source of +3 gems on gloves, you can try farming Dungeon Maps for Unchained for double corrupted Facebreakers. Or just farm Alvas and double corrupt a bunch of gloves.

The nice thing about this build with SSF is that each piece you obtain through grinding is very impactful and noticeable--which creates a great feeling of accomplishment and progression.

All that being said, there are plenty of people running DD Ignite for the Gauntles, Endless Delve, etc...so it's very strong in SSF in general--even if not in this specific form.

Thanks for response. Yeah, its def hard to make Unearth work SSF.

Understanding that "bis" Unearth is effectively impossible in SSF I'm more interested in finding the breakpoint were its better then Spectres. Would just enchant be enough? Maybe +3 is enough? IDK.

Yeah I'm not sure tbh. It would be easy to try it though. The nice thing about Unearth is that the damage is always consistent, so there's no need to use unleash or spell cascade in links which is effectively 25-30% more damage to make up for any discrepancies.

Also you use monster corpses for mapping a lot so any differences in damage will only be noticed on the bosses.

Last thing with Unearth too, it's faster than Desecrate by a considerable margin and thus just feels better to play with.

But hey, try em both and lmk. I'll probably be playing it in one of these upcoming events as well.
Just gotta say that I've been playing this build this league (started late, even) and have cleared things I've never done before; Uber Atziri, A8 Sirus (twice in one night, deathless on both). So far this is one of my favorite builds by a long shot!

I have noticed that switching off of Incandescent Heart as a chest piece was tough, and in fact I ended up just going back to using Obliteration as a wand and keeping IH. Something about the combo made me feel way tankier than trying a rare wand with a rare-explodey chest.

I was curious - I saw mention in the OP about using Necromancer as a tankier option but I haven't been able to find what changes would be recommend on the passive tree, or if the changes are just in ascendancy then even knowing what points to allocate there. I only mention it because there is the occasional boss fight that I just melt on and I can't figure out why when I was face-tanking the "Die!" beam in Sirus no problem.

Thanks for such an amazing build! I imagine I'll be doing this next league as well.

The build has a weakness to damage over time effects. So things like Shaper Beam are pretty miserable.

For necro it's just that you don't need to go Glancing Blows for max block and can invest the points elsewhere because of bone offering. This also means gearing for league starts is easier as well.

As for IH, I think it entirely depends on what the explodey chest looks like. Mine has aura effect which gives a ton of armour for example.

You can also just use a rare chest, IH is nice for damage but the downside is pretty harsh in certain circumstances.

Does the aura effect mod just make it easier to gear out since you don't need to find as much armor on stuff, and since you lose a lot of armor then not using the IH? What is the downside to the IH - I assume you mean the "elemental damage taken as chaos damage" but since we have capped chaos res I didn't think that would be an issue?

Yes, the aura effect gives a TON of armour because Determination gives both MORE % armour and a Flat amount as well. Defiance Banner also has increased % armour. So, with say 30% aura effect you get 15% more, 15% increased, and about 630 flat armour. It's a lot :P You can also use an armor or ES/AR base as well.

and yes, while having 75% chaos res more or less negated the downside, the issue is that our defenses are mostly from Aegis ES on Block. 95% of the time I don't think it's an issue though. Really only in Simulacrums did I notice it on the budget setup (and had to equip Razor for the life on ignite).
