Forbidden Rite's bugged with Spell Suppression and "Damage taken recouped as Life"
Expectation:
Forbidden Rite is a spell. Forbidden Rite deals damage to you. Thus Spell Supression ought to half it's damage to you. Test: Life: 4585 ES: 548 Chaos Res: 76 ![]() Expected formula given those values: 236.52=(((4585*40/100)+(548*25/100))*(100-76)/100)*0.5 Value without Spell Suppression: 473.04=(((4585*40/100)+(548*25/100))*(100-76)/100)*1 "Damage taken recouped as Life" also does not seem to work with Forbidden Rite Observed damage ingame: 473 ![]() Last edited by Aernilion#3844 on Nov 1, 2021, 2:32:22 AM Last bumped on Nov 7, 2021, 8:23:29 PM

This. The wording states that it should work. This is what separated it from dark pact.

I don't think Spell Suppression applies to self spell......

And ofc, FR doesnt state its a hit, and Recoup only works with hits... Thats dumb.

Try testing using Fragile Bloom jewel, if it's a "hit" then you'll lose regrowth stacks when casting FR.

" Brilliant idea: Testing done, all stacks get removed: FR confirmed to hit yourself. |

I played self cast FR entire last league and FR definetly hits.
Worked well with "damage taken recouped as mana" which solved all my mana problems. And when you press alt it says "only damage from hits can be recouped" which i was getting from self hits. |

Would be nice to get a response from GGG on this.

" Thanks for your report, this is intended. The self-damage from Forbidden Rite is not Spell Damage but Secondary Damage and cannot be Suppressed. Last edited by Jatin_GGG#0000 on Nov 3, 2021, 8:14:19 PM

There are only two ways of taking damage – from hit and from DoT. If you take damage instantly - this is hit, quite a basic thing.
It's worth to clarify that Spell Suppression doesn't prevent specifically self secondary damage (from spells), but does apply to regular secondary damage (from spells) when e.g. enemy uses Detonate Dead on a corpse near you, its secondary damage will be prevented by Spell Suppression. |
