It has been quite a while I didn't speak about my own progress here, so: I managed to run through the 30 waves of Simulacrum yesterday, dying 3 times to Kosis as I don't know the fight yet. And, I just beat the Feared deathless on first try with the build.

I felt pretty lucky during my Simulacrum run as I never faced any + fire resistance mod. I did roll some nasty mod combos though, but being able to actually kill monsters is all that matters in the end.
As for the Feared, I rerolled until I had no dangerous mod at all, and the fight went all good, surprisingly. I got Elder + Shaper first, then Atziri, then Chayula + Cortex (with Shaper surviving the whole time). Maybe the order was lucky, but I never really felt threatened as long as I dodged Atziri's empowered spells and shaper's shotguns. Never went low life afaik.

Now, for sure I made some changes to your build, not the least being using Inquisitor instead of Chief this "league". But the core is still the same, and most of all, it all started thanks to your build here ! So thank you so much :)

So, to whoever thinks because it's a Relax-SSF guide, you'll end up facing a wall - you're wrong. This build shines from scratch to epic gear, given some tweaking. You can do it ! :)

can you link your pob?

Inquisitor, so I dropped Incinerate (which gets most of its value off Chieftain's leech) for Flame Wall and Searing Bond. My current setup is a bit button-frenzy when facing some bosses, I'm still working on it.

The main change, with ascendancy, is going for Transcendence for mitigation instead of high max resists, and Endurance charges + Enduring Cry for physical damage reduction. It requires huge investment but pays off in terms of survivability.

Note that I geared this character up in a league time, as I started it in 3.15, skipped end of league and start of Scourge, and came back mid-december.

Hello Wrecker and fellow RF'ers!

So I had some good and fun progress and a few lucky drops netting me about 3ex, which allowed for some gear upgrades across the board. Currently level 85, clearing maps up to tier 8-9 maps with pretty much ease. Feels very good for my first character.

However, I seem to have hit a wall for t10+ maps, and I die too fast to big packs before I can even react :-) Had a bit of a frustrating session earlier where I failed to kill Drox (t10) in multiple cycles of spawning him, and had to ask for some help in global chat. I was just constantly getting one shorted.

I feel my armor / physical damage reduction might be my achilles heel, posting a screenshot below of my defense with 5 endurance charges up (but not the 2 sec effect from the enduring cry).

Spoiler

I don't exactly "know" that I die to physical damage as PoE doesn't have combat log, but that is what makes the most sense to me.

Other potential suspects of dying too fast for me are:

- The fact that I've left Tasalio to the end and haven't taken it yet,
- I'm terrible with my flasks (currently using 4 life flasks and 1 sulphur, with no enchantments to trigger them automatically)
- My gear isn't good enough to progress above t10 (appreciate any upgrade recommendations, I do have some currency to spend).

To ease my physical damage intake, I allocated my pantheons to Lunaris and Gruthkul, which seems to have made things slightly better.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers! <3

Indeed, if you die to Drox specifically, it means you definitely have issues with physical damage.

You could try and focus on Endurance Charges, but that would require quite some investment and changes to the tree, so the easiest way to go probably is to run Determination.
You can either drop temporarily Skitterbots or unspec some damage nodes to pick "mana reservation efficiency" nodes up to the Sovereignity notable, plus the mana efficiency mastery (and if need be, the Armour mastery with "determination has 25% increased mana efficiency").

This, ideally combined with (enchanted and "flagellant's" would be stellar) Granite and/or Basalt flasks, will give you more than enough physical mitigation for maps. Drox has a one-shot megaslam you'll have to dodge (unless investing even more to physical mitigation) but you should be fine for his other skills and mobs.

Oh my god, I love you.

Just invested ~20c in a l20 determination gem, and a basalt flask (flagellant was too expensive, so went with masochist - and I enchanted it to use when charges reach full). Running at 90% reduction with flask and 5 endurance charges. I just completed a t10 map in like 2 minutes! AAAAAAA!!!!

So long skitter bots - never liked you anyway.
Thanks for your patience, tmrkymz. I'm sorry it took so long to respond. I'm glad PoitelMarto was there to respond and help efficiently. Thanks, PoitelMarto!

Nice work trying to change things up and see what works! Hopefully, GGG doesn't change determination for 3.17! If not, I'll be planning on using it in 3.17's guide. This is what I have so far, https://bit.ly/3KxFAdb. Thanks again for your patience! I see your level 87 now. So hopefully things are progressing well.

@tmrkymz I would agree its probably your armor. Try swapping 2 of the health pots for a basalt and granite, and maybe another health potion for another defensive flask.

@Wrecker
First of all, thank you for your stress free builds. As someone who likes to Netflix and thrill, this is the type of build I love. I have a minor issue and request though. I only play every few leagues, so I have a hard time keeping up with all the various changes.

I know this is a big ask, but is there any way you can post an updated Elementalist version? I don't have a spare Chieftan, but I'd love to try this build again with my 91 Ele and have no idea how to update it. I also mainly play SSF, so most other guides wont work due to some unique item or crazy crafted rare.

It wouldn't need to be a full guide, but even just a skill tree, ascendancies, and any uniques to go for would be a huge help. I do have a pretty good selection of uniques, but even deciding between something like Rise of the Phoenix or The Oak just hurts my brain.

If anyone else wants to take a stab at this that would be awesome as well. Or if this has been done already please direct me that way. Thank you.
That's great, Hornzilla! I'm glad you're enjoying yourself so much. It's nice to find a build/style that matches your own.

I had this lying around https://bit.ly/3tRcqjt ;-). I haven't tried it in gameplay yet. It's likely low on damage but I liked the idea of RF and minions. Obviously, the Elementalist works great for that. But every time I see "auto resurrected" golems, I think of the Reaper. So Spiritual Aid is a thing here even though there are more nodes into defence than there is offence. If you give it a shot, let me know what you think. Obviously, play with it as you see fit. My old RF Elementalist had all golems in one helmet link. So it was quite different.

Thanks again for your kindness! Let me know what you think.

Hey Wrecker, would you mind looking at my character Magmarov and making any suggestions.

I picked up this helm as an intermediate:

The medium cluster jewel (in my inventory) is waiting for 2 more level as I have to use my large and small right now as the small gives me attribute points I need (Intelligence).

I'm using the cluster jewels instead of the fire and dot nodes top right in your pob.

The Large is 8 node 12% increased fire damage with notables:
Disorienting Display
25% increased Elemental Damage
10% chance to Blind nearby Enemies when you use an Elemental Skill
Smoking Remains
35% increased Fire Damage
10% chance to create a "Smoke Cloud" on Kill

Not sure if these work with RF, only with Incinerate? I'm guessing that is true. I also have this large I could switch out to:

The small cluster has 4% life and
Surging Vitality
8% increased maximum Life
Every 4 seconds, Regenerate 10% of Life over one second [1]
which I like.

I'm in yellow maps and delving with ease for fossils and currency to upgrade. I'm thinking a 6-link but then I don't use incinerate a ton.

I'm also thinking since my resists are fully capped, trying to find a verillion ring for 7% life with high chaos res and life instead of my two-stone ring on the left.

Finally, what about switching out the clarity for flammability aura and changing to a cast on damage taken with molten shell?

I've died a few times to one-shot type (usually mass projectiles when I'm not moving enough) but I'm doing good damage. I think the 20/20 RF and 20/20 Efficacy helped there with all the bonus % DOT, Fire, and Elemental I've got. Just looking for any insights.

Thanks in advance. Really fun build. I'm on Xbox, so trading is a bit limited, but there are some nice 40% RF helmet in the 3-5 Ex trade range I'm targeting.

Hello Wrecker_of_Days

Thanks for your guide, it helped playing POE again. Last time I played was in Open Beta I think, when it was still limited to Act 3 and 3 difficulty modes.
I like the tanky part of this build. It is much appreciated with my unreliable internet connection (120 ms ping at lowest with occasionnal wild fluctuations that teleports me 1 screen back).

Also your filters are great! And since I can download them to customize for myself, I prefer that over the online ones. I commented unwanted base item types to have even less clutter.

After 3 weeks of SSF, I'm currently farming yellow map easily. I'm not rushing to red maps, just trying to fill Atlas and find missing eternal ascendancy trials (urg).

Concerning your guide :
- Flasks : I realized they are also very important lol. It would be nice to list the interesting types/mods to have. For example, I read that phasing is great, and I do feel more tanky with that even though I don't really get the logic behind.
- Is there an alternative to void sphere? Somehow I don't feel its effectiveness :p
- My flammability does not seem to proc from lv 1 Cast When Damage Taken, is it because I haven't linked Hextouch yet? (I just noticed I haven't reorganized my gem links after I equipped my armor yesterday)

Hey Thrippy!

I was able to take a quick look at your build. Sorry, it wasn't a deep dive but I don't have the time to do thorough reviews.

I really like the changes you made! You've replaced the Breathe of Flames cluster with your own cluster jewels and made up for the lost damage and got some defence too! That's nice for sure! So good changes there.

In terms of gear, I think you've done well as well! You have great resists and your physical damage mitigation is around 50%. If you're finding survivability a bit of an issue, there are a couple of things you can do:
1) Movement speed on your boots. It'd suck getting rid of your sweet resists, but 20-30% increased movement speed can really help when running away to somewhere safe.
2) I see you just added Malevolence. (Good pick!) If you have a level 20 Determination in there instead, once it's level 20, will give you over 70% physical damage mitigation when you don't have any Endurance Charges up. That can make a huge difference too.
3) Some of your gear is way better than mine. While others still have really low life rolls. Even though the other mods on those pieces of gear are sweet, having the lower life rolls can be a killer. With an RF build, I always make sure I have a high life roll before I consider it.

In regards to Clarity, Flammability, and Molten Shell, They are all tied together. If you get rid of Clarity, you'll lose mana regen which all of your CwDT spells need. If you use Molten Shell you can't use Immortal Call (one guard skill at a time). So try it out and see if it works. And if it doesn't, you can fall back to the guide.

I hope that helps!

(Oh a side note, Incinerate is getting a buff for 3.17. So if you're playing this build-through, take that into consideration. I'm still on a 5 link as well :(

Welcome back, Subbabble!

Beta was quite a while ago! I'm glad you're having a good time going through the Atlas. It's fun to go through slowly and get things done efficiently. Good for you. I'm glad you like the filters too! Hopefully, you'll fully ascend soon and get to see the build in full swing.

Flasks - I planned on updating flasks this league but since my house flooded I haven't had the time. It'll be updated for the 3.17 launch for sure though. I've been able to update my Zombie character's in-game flasks. I'll be doing the same flask setup for my RF character as well. I didn't min/max the prefixes, just the suffixes (removing ailments). So I'll be adding that to the 3.17 RF guide. Here's the link to check it out: https://bit.ly/3H2KyMW.

Void Sphere - I like Void Sphere because it sucks enemies in and has a cooldown. Before, I used to use Ball Lightning all the time. If you go with Ball Lightning or whatever else, make sure it's not eating up your mana. We want to make sure the Immortal Call always has the mana to be cast when it gets triggered.

Flammability - Yes. With this current setup/gem levels, Hextouch is required to cast Flammability. That's just confirmation though, you already noticed that.

Hopefully, that helps a bit. Thanks again for the kind words! I hope you enjoy 3.17's changes!

Thanks Wrecker for the info on Determination. I'll try to find a level 20 gem for trade and swap it out.

I wanted speed on the boots, but couldn't find it. I keep looking for better life rolls but I've been playing a balancing act with my resists and damage.

When I level enough to get all the cluster notables and re-apply my 7% life jewel in a socket, I should be around 6200 life I believe. Then it will be min/maxing it.

I saw the Incinerate bump which is cool. I joined league so late, I'm really just trying out the build to see if I want to run it for 3.17, so far it's a yes. It was a fast leveler through acts and once you are able to run RF full time, it smokes everything. Just waiting for final league notes and the experts to chime in if it's still viable, but I don't see why not.

Finally on life and gear changes, ultimately I think it comes down to me learning more about crafting. So far I just use my bench and what the crafting recipes I find. I love Delve and do that a lot when I only have a short time to play, do a few nodes or if I need some quick chaos orbs. I have plenty of fossils and resonators so maybe I just need to use some to try and play the slot machine a bit and hope for a jackpot.

I feel crafting is a game within the game and I haven't had time to look into it enough, but I know it would greatly strengthen my builds. I usually get between 85-90 on my builds and peter out. This time I'm taking a few days off for the 2/9 launch of the new league to get a jump and hope to benefit from early trading to maximize my currency on xbox to open up better early equipment and carry me.

For sure Thrippy!

The gear just comes with the grind. Things are looking awesome. Crafting is actually all about the grind too. Whether it's Delve, Heist, Syndicate, Harvest...it all needs a lot of opportunities. Lots of attempts at not only accumulating enough of the currency/instances but also finding the right item that'll fit the mods you want. You're right 111%. Crafting is a game within a game. It just requires a lot of time to invest.

So good luck! You're doing an awesome job!
