Last Epoch is POE Killer now

"
Mtxes in PoE: amazing conceptually...mostly let down by the game itself one way or another.

Fixed. No reason to limit yourself to MTX here, it's all pretty applicable.

I mean, sure. But unlike some, I try to respond to people at least somewhat in line with what they said...:p

And I think a blanket statement is far from tenable because of its blanket nature. Leaves the door wide open for exceptions, which I suppose is good if your desire is meandering perpetuation of generic interaction rather than a more pointed contribution to the topic.

Of course said topic is not PoE but Last Epoch, and the elephant in the room remains why it's still in General Discussion but then I provide my own answer: because it isn't about Last Epoch. It's really about this silly notion of a PoE killer. Operative word should be 'killer' but it's really just a variable, a placeholder. The operative word is 'PoE'...in other words, because the 'killer' part is ludicrous, we focus on that which is supposed to have been or will be killed. The known rather than the unknown.

But if that's the case then someone behind the scenes is moving goalposts because plenty of threads 'about' PoE by way of another thing's relationship to it have been relegated to the void of Off Topic.

Just a side thought though.

I could have disagreed that PoE's conceptual brilliance is always let down by the actuality AND given specific examples but I just don't care that much. Too close to apologism. Been there, done that, got (all) the Tshirts.

https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

I like that phrase. Nicely captures how dead OT is these days.

Of course it was never the most popular subforum on here, but in recent years GGG has really seen fit to kill it, yet refuses to put it out of its misery.

Ah well, I digress. Carry on about this supposed 'PoE killer' then gents.

No Killer No Chance!

Poe is to great.

Diablo 2 R cool old feeling <3
but no changes on skills on chars for new guys to bad.
Last Epoch is okay but it still feels really clunky.

I feel like it has the possibility to be a great aRPG with 3 - 4 years more development but it's not there yet.

I played for a solid 100 hours to come to this conclusion, so this is not just a comment based on circumstantial evidence.

Don't get me wrong, it was a refreshing and different experience, but I would never pick it over PoE at this point.
Souls along a conduit of blood, from one vessel to the next.
While POE has major issues they will never fix - aka singleplayer ARPG epoch has more problems.

Sadly D2R will be the best ARPG but that is just too oudated.
Any bets on what the next "POE Killer" will be. It's been killed so many times at this point, I've lost count.

D2R and Wolcen are the recent killers of POE threads that I recall. I guess we'll see in the next few weeks if D2R has any staying power. I know that's where I'll be spending my weekend after I finish this damn End Game Grind (EGG).

New World launches on the 28th. Never really played an MMO before, but did opt in during the open beta during the weekend, and I must say that it tickles my fancy a lot more than D2R does.

Maybe I have to at least get 24 challenges before I move on. Damn, I hate challenges.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Lost Ark got delayed until 2022, I think that's next on the list or did it kill POE already?

I’ll have to check it out though large MMOs tend to not stick with me. Running simulators that require big groups to do anything meaningful tends to put me off.

I like challenges except EGG. They pigeonhole you into a small set of end game activities that either resonate with you or they don’t. I think they should change it to be any end game activity and assign points to each. The challenge being to hit the total points and you choose which grinds you prefer.

I’m on expedition logs and about halfway done. I don’t particularly enjoy the logs. I know I could just go in and detonate and leave for completion but that would make it even more aggravating for me.
