[3.15] Storm Rain Raider League Starter - Theorycraft

isn*t only 106% life a bit low?

Its just a theory craft at level 100. Obviously we will adjust the POB once league happens. Most likely, you will either sacrifice DPS if you have enough or just live with occasionally dying a few times in order to farm faster.

The gear here is budget. Something most people can get in 1-2 weeks. The top 1% players can get better gear in 4-5 days most likely so they can get the really good stuff and have 6k life with 10m+ dps clearing feared and maven.

Cuz you need a bow. The skill scales of base damage.

Here's my idea and just throwing it out there:

Ballista Storm Rain Poison Pathfinder...

I may be off in my calculations, so please let me know any thoughts... but by switching around a High-tier TR build in POE ninja, adding Ballistas (6 in total), and changing a few items (Darkscorn, etc.) I was able to achieve 128k DPS PER poison...

Ballistas w/ Rain of splinters and dying sun have 5 projectiles, and ~3ish APS, which gets ~90 arrows on the ground.

DPS is anyone's guess, however if you assume even 20% of arrows initially "hit" (1/5 arrows seems reasonable) and 30% are hit by a at least 1 chain, that's 60 total poison stacks (Also assuming it shotguns, lots of assumptions but here we are)... or 7.7M DPS for the first second of combat, this of course can scale for ~4 seconds to 36M DPS.

But wait, there's more. Poison stacks spread to enemies using master toxist so the whole map is covered in poison.

You can also set up another 6L since we will be using a bow. Which means you can manually cast storm rain as well! Doubling your DPS when it comes to bosses, etc.

Also, with a built in crit chance of 60% and high rate of attacks, flask charges "should" be pouring in like crazy in a league where they are more difficult to achieve.

That is super interesting !!!! I might consider this as I was going like maybe trying something like assassin darkscorn fury valve storm rain volkur poison (still crunching this in my head) ^_^ :D
Hi guys, im interested in trying out storm rain. I am thinking of leauge starting using tytykillers speedrun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UmGoa9J2os

This one is going into deadeye though and not using toxic/caustic which I guess will be fine? I see some rather use Raider, who knows whats best, im thinking of starting out with deadeye to get some more arrows on the ground. I am not sure when I should switch to storm rain either and respecc.

Does any experienced player know what kind of gear we should look for when were getting into mapping with storm rain? I am unsure of what bow I should be looking for and what cheap uniques can help us in the start?

also what would be the best support gem setup for storm rain and what side skills shall we be using?

thanks in advance!

It seems to me you want a bow like this

Thicket bow
--------
Adds 139 to 243 Fire Damage
Adds 126 to 217 Cold Damage
Adds 28 to 394 Lightning Damage
19% increased Attack Speed
38% increased Critical Strike Chance
Bow Attacks fire 2 additional Arrows

Im not sure about this since it is a phys conversion skill and our effectiveness of added damage is bad. Time will tell with a pob soon though.

Edit: or would this bow be going for some trinity shenanigans?

Adding this just to see if it works

But won't elementalist be quite a good accendancy for storm rain
-bastion of elements: easy elemental shield + no ele reflect --> run more maps
-mastermind of discord: extra -25 rest from exposure and the mana regen is pretty welcome now and could be used for mind of the council ?
-heart of destruction: 60% increased AoE, should the skill work the same as toxic rain then that means the arrows are further apart and bigger chains/beams
and more dmg if you hit a boss
-shaper of winter: 15% reduced action speed

while you would lose some quality of life in the form of attackspeed and movementspeed, would it be a decent eneugh alternative for raider?
I am planning on doing some "Group Self Found" shenanigans so I am not planning on finding any specific Unique Items so my take on the build is probably not for normal trade league... but:

Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/BQFMNMBJ

Main Points:

1. Elemental Overload - Obviously, this will not be a crit build. I think that crit was wrecked kind of hard with flask changes. Diamond flask was such a crutch for crit builds. So... going to EO. Downside of this... HOLY HELL a lot of travel points. :(

2. Frenzy Route - I dont know how this one will play out.... but getting 7 Frenzy (3 + Ascendancy + 3 from tree) gives you more of a benefit than Onslaught and gives you the benefit of having sustained Frenzy on the boss. We also still get "Onslaught on kill" on the tree for 3 points with "Graceful Assault".

Also getting the "Discipline of Slaughter" wheel in conjunction with the Ascendency bonus for frenzy means at 7 Frenzy Charges, we get:

7 x 4% More Damage - 28% More Damage (I hear more damage is hard to come by now) -- 16% more damage than if you were to have 3 frenzy up via Blood Rage or Frenzy skill on bosses.
Evasion % = 105%
Move Speed % = 42%
Attack Speed% = 42%
Attack Damage % = 126%

Going the Onslaught route doesn't give the big "Increased Onslaught effect" anymore. Yes, you get 4% increase movespeed and 4% increased atack speed, but that gets totally negated if you find a piece of gear with "+1 Max frenzy". And you lose the additional "More Damage" and the 126% increased damage as well. I assume the "more evasion" is going to be way better than the increased %.

Meh, who knows.

3. In the tree I went out of my way to make sure I was still "Avoid Elemental Ailment" immune. Will have to get 10% more of it from items or I will just anoint "Elemental Focus" which is cheap until I can get 10% of it from gear.

4. The thing I do not know about is mana sustain. Might have to pick up 1 pointer by Arrow Dancer for mana leech.

I hope the skill is fun. Hopefully the area in which the arrows drop is tight enough to get some good single target. If not.... switch to Lightning Strike I guess.....

Hey, super interested in this as well! Any chance for another PoB? The link seems broken. Cheers
