Can cluster jewels make it clear where the notables will be?
I am playing a meme build with 100% chance to blow up obliteration wands + unspeakable gifts.
For this I need 4 megalomaniac cluster jewels with unspeakable gifts.
However the way the notables appear on the jewel has 0 relation to the tree.
On the image below on the left side of the tree both jewels have the unspeakable gifts being the far notable. Where as on the jewel itself it is listed as the middle and bottom one.
On the right hand side of the tree the jewel has the notable in the same spot of middle and bot but it puts the notable as the first one on the left. This means I either am constantly wasting passive skill points or I need to keep buying and sell and buying and selling megalomaniacs until I find the one that places them in the shortest path. (alternative I could buy a jewel with 2 useful notables but that are like a factor of 10 more expensive).
I feel like the jewels should be in an extremely easy to understand order.
Using the axis the jewel slot is coming off of as north the top notable should be at 12 o'clock and the other noteables should rotate clockwise around.
Just feels a little stupid how I have to buy 4 jewels to get one that gives me the noteable i want without the jank.

Yeah this is shitty, as a workaround you can import the jewel into Path of Building and see notable positioning that way. I'm assuming that works for uniques, it certainly does for rare jewels.
Yes, this is why some combinations of cluster jewels are many exalts higher priced than others that sometimes are even "better", only because the middle notable is the worst and allows it to be skipped and save 2 points.
There is NO logic to the positioning of the notables, as far as I have found. It doesn't follow alphabetic ordering either. It may be ranked by their ID tags "under the hood" but we'd never be able to tell as players, so yeah, it's a bad system that you as a player need to educate yourself on prior to buying or selling these.
Caveat emptor.

That is really interesting. Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do I copy a items import info from poe.trade of the trade website?

On lower left of an item listed on the trade website there is a "Copy Item" button (icon is a + on a page) if you hover over the lower left. Click that to copy the item text to clipboard.
In Path of Building under "Items" you can click "Create custom..." in the upper right and paste the item text in, then click Add to Build. Once it's there, you can socket it into the virtual passive tree in POB.
EDIT for images
pathofexile.com/trade "Copy Item" button
POB "Create Custom" button
POB "Add to Build" button
POB simulating socket insertion - can access this from Items screen, or right click the socket on the passive tree which jumps to the proper dropdown menu on the Items screen

I believe this is sorta correct, but which is 1-2-3 is not that simple...
Examples:
Spoiler
Item Class: Jewel
Rarity: Rare
Dusk Shine
Large Cluster Jewel
--------
Requirements:
Level: 40
--------
Item Level: 63
--------
Adds 11 Passive Skills (enchant)
2 Added Passive Skills are Jewel Sockets (enchant)
Added Small Passive Skills grant: 10% increased Spell Damage (enchant)
--------
1 Added Passive Skill is Burden Projection
1 Added Passive Skill is Essence Rush
1 Added Passive Skill is Practiced Caster
--------
Place into an allocated Large Jewel Socket on the Passive Skill Tree. Added passives do not interact with jewel radiuses. Right click to remove from the Socket.
--------
Note: ~price 4 chaos
The order on the item is alphabetical, so it lists them:
Burden Projection (1 pref), Essence Rush (2 suf), Practiced Caster (3 pref)
However the skill descriptions on the trade site lists them in 3-1-2 order.
And PoB puts them in:
Essence Rush (2, suf) - starting_point - Practiced Caster (3, pref)
Burden Projection (1, pref)
Whereas
Spoiler
Item Class: Jewel
Rarity: Rare
Blight Joy
Large Cluster Jewel
--------
Requirements:
Level: 40
--------
Item Level: 57
--------
Adds 11 Passive Skills (enchant)
2 Added Passive Skills are Jewel Sockets (enchant)
Added Small Passive Skills grant: Wand Attacks deal 12% increased Damage with Hits and Ailments (enchant)
--------
Added Small Passive Skills also grant: +3 to Intelligence
1 Added Passive Skill is Fuel the Fight
1 Added Passive Skill is Martial Prowess
1 Added Passive Skill is Storm's Hand
--------
Place into an allocated Large Jewel Socket on the Passive Skill Tree. Added passives do not interact with jewel radiuses. Right click to remove from the Socket.
The abilities on the item are again alphabetical:
Fuel the Fight (1 pref), Martial Prowess (2 suf), Storm's Hand (3 pref)
However the trade website describes them in 3-2-1 order.
And according to PoB puts them in:
Fuel the Fight (1 pref) - starting_point - Storm's Hand (3 pref)
Martial Prowess (2 suf)
So "written form" doesn't mean the (alphabetic) order of affixes on the item, but rather the order the trade website lists the descriptions of those affixes underneath.
And so it takes that description order, and then allocates them clockwise from the cluster jewel's starting node.
I think (but am absolutely not at all certain) that it's an issue of what order the affixes were added to the games data files.. so initially they were mostly added alphabetically, but over time some have been modified & the internal reference numbers have changed... but I could easily be totally mistaken on that. And the game does an alphabetic sort when listing the affixes for item display, but doesn't when choosing their locations on the tree.

this should be the correct drawing.
Let me check my clusters.
after checking:
it might be completely random.. Gosh dark it. I think the drawing you described and I assumed belongs to megalomaniac unique cluster. This suggestion also needs correction.
after checking that: I was completely wrong its the other way around in megalomaniac too...

I guarantee you, folks. All these ways to view these cluster jewels I have applied previously, in attempts to find a logic behind it. There is no logic (that we can perceive as players).
It's not alphabetical, it's not pre-suff-pre, it's not top to bottom, not how it appears in-game or how it appears on trade site (because that may differ as well).
The only thing you can do, is copy the item to POB and look before you buy. DO THIS, PLEASE!
Having said that, POB works every time, so by design there must be a logic behind it. Otherwise POB wouldn't get it right either. The question is... what is it? It's not like this is the recipe to Coca Cola or something, so it would be nice if this information was made public.
