On a personal note, it hurts me to walk away from PoE. This game has SO much potential, and could be the benchmark for all ARPG's.

Sadly, you've shot yourself in the foot repeatedly since Delve.

The game's performance gets worse every patch. You botched a league release by letting your precious streamers get a leg up on the rest of us. Your MTX library, while impressive, does nothing for your players. And this is just the top of the list.

Thank you for explaining it in such a way that it's easy enough to follow for people who aren't massively aware of the technical detail that happens behind the scenes.

I appreciate that all these things were done as the logical step to improve the problems happening at the time, and hope that at some point the last domino will be found, and everything will stop falling over.

Your single largest performance impact I can find is that your on-ground drops are using fully flushed out low-poly models instead of a single plane with a decal on it. Don't make user GPUs have to render a ton of non-impactful polygons especially ones that are almost always visually blocked by your skill effect particles. Also loot doesn't seem to have vertex culling with particle effects. Which makes the problem worse as is, but with plane+decal solution would be a non-issue
