GGG needs a new form of monetization. This isn't it.
Personally, I'm going to stick to the traditional character, portal and stash MTX's, but I don't understand why people are complaining.

Don't like the cursor MTX? Don't buy it. It's a free-to-play game. People mentioning that this is a greedy decision seem to ignore the fact that the game works perfectly fine without the mouse MTX.

If this is grinding your gears and driving you away from PoE, it's probably not the main reason in the first place.
Next update;

New Microtransaction: Shortcut Icon...
Really? Cursor MTX?

Does GGG not know yolomouse is a must for PoE?
GGG Best Game Developers
Totally abject ! Where is the limit... what becomes of this game ...
Rather than putting someone to make cursors (paying lol !) Would have been more useful to correct the bugs and the stabilité of the game which déclinés from patch to patch ( look délirium is literaly unplayble ! )
Pulling too much on the rope it ends un breaking

I think it is a good idea, and the cursors look cool, but it is kinda overpriced at 10$.
Im glad to see new direction for mtx tho. Good job, GGG.
Selling cursors is a new low. Really disappointed.
But that's probably the Tencent influence.

Nobody is forcing you to buy the cursors AND they gave out a FREE high contrast cursor to provide a FREE solution to cursor visibility for those that don't wish to turn to 3rd party solutions.

There is simply no pleasing some, especially this toxic, horrifically entitled community of GGG hating bandwagoners.

The high contrast cursor is a step in the right direction but it misses options to customize it further.
It still has the base greyish colors with some slightly brighter frame while keeping the small size.
Would still easily blend with soo much effects unlike YoloMouse whose contrast is way more noticable and mouse cursor way easier to keep track of (size + color can be changed).

Looks to me,in the current form, more like a slight teaser to buy the other useless MTX cursors.

I have no idea why this is a problem. Yolomouse mouse as far as im aware is still be useable and isn't banned in the T&C.

If you dont like the cursors dont buy them. If i have to list a problem it is that you have to buy all 5 and cant buy the 1 or 2 you like.

The problem is they dont address it in the first place and instead try new ways to monetize.

Especially since cursor visibility is a hot topic since years and we have to rely on 3rd party tools like YoloMouse.
Instead of coming up with useless cursor skins they should have allowed more ingame customisation (size, color, transparency, etc as non-MTX) of the cursor to make it more visible vs the plethora of visual screen clutter that exists.

To the people that keep defending this kind of bullshit "it's a f2p game", "no one is forcing you to buy it", "they have to make money"- yes, everyone understands this already and no one is disputing this. It doesn't change the fact that in this particular case this is a scummy move. As you can see on the right side of this post, I have absolutely no problem with supporting this game with thousands of $$$.

However, it's one thing to sell cosmetics, it's another thing to sell options that should be available in the Settings menu. GGG knows for a fact how uncomfortable the default cursor is and it gets worse with every league and the amount of screen clutter. By selling you this as a MTX (and once again - this isn't a MTX, it should be in the settings menu not in the MTX one) they're just telling you that this option will never be implemented as it should be.

Spoiler
I'll give you an example with a game that often is mentioned when talking about PoE - Lost Ark. For those of you who haven't played it - it is a free to play game as well. And as a Korean MMO ARPG trust me - they know a thing or two about selling MTXs, they sell a metric truckload of stuff and on top of it the so called "pay to progress" conveniences which actually affect gameplay by allowing you to dump a boatload of money to improve your gear faster. So they are not strangers to milking the whales.

And even a game like this with pretty much nasty monetization has included the option to customize your damn mouse cursor in the Settings menu. You can resize it how you like and there are several colors which are actually visible.

Because even a massively greedy company can understand how ridiculous it is to sell mouse cursor MTXs and that such option should be available as a default game settings, not a fucking microtransaction. It is not that I have a problem showering GGG with money for fancy flashy armor packs, weapons and skill effects. It is when they go even further beyond on greed and start selling Settings menu options. Not to mention that these particular 5 cursors still have poor visibility, most likely to prepare you for another and another and another $10 recolored cursor pack. What's next, $10 for a pack of 5 gateways on the login screen?

Yep. Kind of sneaky. They partially recognize the problem but come up with bad MTX solutions that still do not solve the visibility problem.
