“They have forgotten us. And in casting us to oblivion, they have also forgotten themselves. The People of Light are lost, blinded by the Eye of Solaris, the same eye that deemed us unworthy, that forcefully exiled us to the prison in the bowels of the earth.

And thus, they built towers, statues, pyramids and temples to honour their ‘gods’. If they could only remember… ‘gods’ were born amongst them, created by them, only to be now regarded as creators and protectors. While they were striving to touch the skies in which to find their creators, we dug deeper and deeper towards the very heart of the world. And the world, we saw, was itself the mother of all. Every layer of this world marks an era, and descending means finding the past, the true ancestors. The People of Light come from us, and we come from the mother, the core, the Place Untouched by the Light.”

In the Abyss, nothing can be seen, but when Ulaman raised his fist, everyone in his army felt the movement, and roared in anticipation.

“They climbed desperately, wishing to be closer to the Light, the giver of life, revealer of truths and judge of the worthy… but from atop their towers they cannot even see where they bury their dead. For every brick they placed, they buried a body. A father, a mother, generations of ancestors being returned to the Darkness. And while their cities fell to wars and cataclysms, their bones made our cities stronger and our armours thicker. Civilizations grow by learning from the lessons of the past. Instead, the People of the Light sought lessons from their deities, their delusions, and let their past descend to us.

The time has come. We no longer need to fear the Light. Our armours made us immune to Solaris’ judging gaze. Their bones -and the memories of the gods’ false divinity carved into them- protect us. The People of the Light have forgotten their past, have abandoned their origins, but we still lurk below them. Today, they will remember, the foundations of their lies will shift, and their big walls will become their cells, their tombs. Today, the world is reclaimed by its true owners. Rise, my children of Darkness, and may the cities crumble and be swallowed by the mother of all life.”

“Rise! Rise! Rise!”, the chittering voices claimed, while the bones long forgotten started ascending through the earth."

Within the giant walls of Sarn, and in the place of false security that they provided, while the cracks were starting to form in the ground, a merchant said his final words: “Stay out of the shadows… they bite”.
