poe.trade is not affiliated with GGG. Use the official trade site at https://www.pathofexile.com/trade

he said poe trade, not poe.trade
don't be so pedantic!
Rate limiting occurs when our website has received too many requests, and is usually caused by a third party program being used on the network. I'd suggest disabling any third party programs that you may be using to see if this helps prevent this from happening again.

If you're unable to resolve this please feel free to send an email to techsupport@grindinggear.com and we'll be able to look into this further with you.
I have been getting this as well and yes I am using a program to help quick price items for me in game, Do you know how long it takes for the rate limit to lift so I may continue using the market?

your 3 party program is properly the problem here and the rate limit is GGG's defense about your IP spamming their backend API's-
So, in my network are 2 PoE players, but I don't use any third party program on this PC.
I was able to do a search once, but now I always get this message. I waited a bit, cleared my cookie and cache and tried again, but same error.
Cannot complete any search and I just want to check the value of the item I found...

edit: waited a bit longer and eventually I was able to search, but I think the other person was afk.
Is there another way, e.g. make it account instead of IP restricted if you're logged in to this site? Because I'm not responsible for someone else in my network to use a third party program.

Well if you share the same public IP then this is the problem and this is made even worse if the person uses 3 party software.

You can try to manually login to the trade site because this increases the rate other then that, your only other option is to use a VPN system.
