Necro Nerfs, We've Come Full Circle
I called this as far back as Blight when I said I didn't want summoners buffed. I also expected GGG to run them into the ground afterward, but instead it took until 1.13 to drop the hammer.
Honestly, it would've been more ideal to have nerfed them sooner. Now too many people, myself included, have gotten comfortable with it. (inb4 someone says I'm mad: I run skeletons. Spectre nerfs don't affect me any and I'm too poor to afford minion cluster jewels to begin with, so I ultimately lost little save for timed league encounters in red maps becoming that much harder to complete. I'm not asking for buffs either.) Ritual isn't going to be a fun league. I was really liking some of the new Atlas passives that would increase the duration of Delirium fog, +50% increased Legion timer, and double Incursion time on kill. It would've been great optional passives to pick up for poor players and otherwise slow clearspeed builds to finally get something meaningful out of the encounters instead of table scraps. Now? It's a requirement to have if you want to get table scraps instead of absolutely nothing. Either that or somehow figure out how to earn unbelievable amounts more currency to compensate with stronger gear, because goodness knows Harvest isn't gonna be of much help. The gear issue wouldn't be a problem if Harvest wasn't gutted to only being able to harvest maybe a couple crops that appear 10%-21% of the time, depending on if you pick up Atlas passives. Guess poor players get left in the dirt unless they treat this game like its their job. Would've been better if Harvest was implemented fully into the game and the crafts would not be able to be traded so SSF and players who hate the tedium that is trading have another way to progress their build. And to make matters worse? Those Atlas bonuses will only apply to the regions you unlock them in, so you've got to limit yourself to specific maps if you plan on engaging in certain league content. Giving players some agency, only to take more of it away. One final thought for GGG to chew on: Would you need to nerf necro if you didn't buff them in the first place? PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. Last edited by Pizzarugi#6258 on Jan 11, 2021, 7:49:43 PM Last bumped on Jan 12, 2021, 3:44:28 PM

Biggest problem i can see is lack of actual craft options for minions, why there no craft that affect global minions? Only several items as convo wand have minion crafts and that's all.
lack of minion crafts was and will be problem Last edited by ShapitoKit#5066 on Jan 12, 2021, 2:46:41 AM

The necro buffs last time could be meant as a parody to poke fun at D3's Necro class reveal expansion. At least that was what I thought.

I just realized that the incursion passive that gives more time per kill is kinda a reverse after the temple rework that halfed the time we have during incursions right? Also making the uniques random made me actually hate GGG's temple rework entirely

Necros and minions are still BROKEN, even with more nerfs.
The playstyle and ease of play, versus investment and reward, is OP Affliction and Necropolis worst leagues ever. The current game design has slowly turned this game into a loot-shower fest, chase uniques are way too available; and obtaining chase items through stacked decks simply isn't fun. Rework stacked decks needed.

Its op on the high end... For casuals thats not the case.

The biggest problem with alot of builds every league is the pay to win aspect. Thats what breaks things. You see the same players equipped with high end gear days into a league.
I always wondered how you can get a headhunter first week of a league every league. Same thing happens to necros with gear and auras. Instead of fixing the issue... GGG chose to just nerf broadly. This ends up impacting casual honest players who are not the problem. The 1% will not be effected... Only the honest casuals will. NS |

" Have you actually tried running a skeleton necro build against league content that has timers (bonus points if the map is red and juiced), all of which provide good rewards? I can assure you that, unless you can afford to invest a significant sum of currency, necro isn't as broken as people like to claim. Almost all of the rewarding content is locked behind Delve and Delirium, and a skeleton summoner does terribly at both, because their clear speed is abysmal compared to bow and caster builds. They're not even good at Legion. That leaves them with Metamorph, Betrayal, and Blight, which skeletons actually shine in, but neither of those can compare when it comes to rewards. Even with the nerfs, spectres are the only minions that necros have which can actually tackle this content without an ungodly massive investment. Trouble is, now the spectres are far more likely to die in the middle of these encounters, and I'd like to see you try and raise replacements in the middle of chasing some fog or the Crawler. I already have to do that when my Carnage and Host Chieftains get obliterated. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. Don't worry, this league we'll be back to Deadeye TornadoShot + HH meta. Clearing maps in less then 1 minute will be a thing.
