Sometime in 2020, I stopped thinking to myself "today is going to be a good day" while having my first cup of coffee in the morning... 2020 is a __show.

I'm already mentally blacklisting anyone talking about 2021 as though some arbitrary change in date is going to magically fix everything.
I look at this whole fucking era the same way I consider the 80s -- the 80s didn't really end until at least 3 years into the 90s, we were just too stuck in the 80s to notice. Then grunge hit and saved us from what seemed like interminable bad taste, just in time to prepare us for apocalyptic millennial angst. As for good days and bad, I think there is just too much potential for intense and sudden upheaval in 24 whole hours to declare any given day good or bad. I settle for good hours, bad minutes. That's a 'good day', on balance. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

My prediction on 2021 is that some professionals will announce that they accidently introduced a stone-eating bacteria from another object in the solarsystem, which is multiplying in an unpredictable manner, into our ecosystems.
Practically a good story to raise a space force. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drDs-Y5DNH8

Sometimes I feel like living in Taiwan is like living on a different planet. The 2020 experience here has just been so wildly different from...well, pretty much everywhere else.
I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.

" Picture yourself as an extraterrestrial stone-eating space bacteria. Would you, as a self-respecting member of this Domain, and being cognizant of the opinion of other members of your species, voluntarily eat... "Earth" of all places in the universe? It's at least a ten-percent chance you'll end up munching down on an old human diaper or world's most ancient bottle of "fish sauce." I would think the first thing you'd do, noticing you were on this particular rock, would be to book passage to better grazing grounds. |

Well, Sydney just had a last-fucking-minute Covid breakout, right in time for Xmas. 0 local cases to almost 30 in a day. Small numbers, but as Egg Shen taught us in the sacred text 'Big Trouble In Little China', 'that's how it starts. Very small.'
Like I said, this year is far from over. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

So far my absolute loathing for Other People has paid off...no reason to change it for the new year >:^D

" Christmas shoppers, perhaps? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGC1bV4-fmk :) " That man was a Saint! A pitchfork wielding, sharp-toothed, ranting madman of a Saint, but a Saint, still... (They made a computer game out of a version of that story. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Have_No_Mouth,_and_I_Must_Scream_(video_game)) One of my favorite bits with Harlan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj5IV23g-fE It's true. |
