Do people don't know that CP2077 is an RPG with character customiztion, character progression, character development, XP, builds, passive tree and actual hard choices to make when they compare it to GTA? Or do they just see cars and guns, and automatically draw the most narrow and shallow comparrison?

"Games" in general are something humans do and can be incorporated into their culture. This is true, but not like the AAA Game Devs push it... They treat their entire genre like a franchised sport or, worse, a "way of life." All of it. Why? To. Sell. Products.

Cyberpunk will likely be a decent game for those who enjoy those sorts of games. And then, it too shall pass and some "New Thing" will take Cyberpunk's title and the love of its fans.

Why?

Because it's a "New Thing" to sell and Cyberpunk's hype would have died down to the point where it's time to take it out back, behind the shed, and shoot it. The developers and game industry will need something new, flashy, and appealing, to sell and will invest a lot of money in marketing hype in order to do it. They'll also do everything they can do to drag fans into their social communities and build up their dedication, involvement, and forced-love at the end of a game controller...

THEN, when the developer announces a delay after promising the world to their "adoring fans who we love and couldn't have done it without you because we "gamers" need to stick together so we can change the world because we are awesome and games are the ultimate form of everything and please, someone, msg me a hug on Twitter ™, Facebook ™, Instagram ™, Twitch ™ and be sure to Like or Subscribe on my Youtube ™ channel"... then what?

Outrage.

Betrayal.

Threats of violence.

All over a "game," not a problematic marriage or the infidelity of a lover... Just a "game."

The driveling bits of emotion and attachment that they pump into their own fanbase that imply a closeness and intimacy that does not actually exist has come back to bite them in the @$$...

The outrage displayed by emotionally undeveloped fans who have glommed onto a sense of belonging as CDPR Fans is the fault of the developer's themselves for encouraging that level of involvement and attachment.

They spurned their lovers in favor of a three-week delay and are reaping the whirlwind of their own creation.

They do this for money. They build these fanbases and encourage that degree of intimacy for... money. That's it. It serves no other purpose, but they'll tell you it serves every purpose they can think of if their fans will only remain a captive audience for their products.

CDPR has had employees receive death threats over this three-week delay. And, you know what? I blame CDPR. They got the reaction that they have been building into their game's reception from the beginning. (The "outrage" not any "action" if someone acted on it.)

They've built that hype, fueled that intimacy, insisted on that level of involvement and have largely directed all of these things at a customer base full of adolescents and minors for the sole purpose of getting them to purchase a product. And, of course, to do so enthusiastically and with great loyalty -
