It's much easier to get higher dps with the fireball/flame wall ignite build and it is extremely cheap to build (If you dont need a 6link staff :) ).
Building the life version will feel fast and efficient and you will be able to take down everything. ED can feel more safe but will have a higher investment scale / can feel slower at bossing... Like much slower! ED has better sustain due to the naturality of the way ED works. I got some handache playing the fireball/flame wall build too much though. " Try building a flameslinger mate - use flamewall with spellslinger support. Laziest playstyle imo if you are into non-minion builds. You are a much better builder, so i am 100% sure you'll come up with some ridiculously op flameslinger build that I cant think of. discord id: dejuvenate#5828

Yeah it's just very expensive to build a good slinger because you need a extremely good wand with +2, a good shield with both fire damage/+ levels and a good elder helmet with delirium 30% more dot dps and burning damage support!
Also you don't benefit from spell damage on the fireball ignite sadly, so the implicit is lost and you don't benefit from stacking % block either with the spell damage from block cluster. not sure about SSFHC, I dont ever play that league.
But on trade league it's actually reachable to hit 3-4 mill dot using flameslinger with cluster jewels. Just using a "realistic gear", I posted on my thread which I know has many holes. I can only imagine someone with decent knowhow can bring this even higher, as not many people play this. Coldslinger has been killing sirus A8 with like 1.8m vortex dps, so this is definitely doable imo. discord id: dejuvenate#5828

Im doing flameslinger chieftain as ssf I trying to combine some cheap ideas from both of your fronts.
I have to say that the main issue while leveling (Im 72 now) has been "empty shots" due to kb-gmp-chain not delivering ignite but that literally like 5%. The good side is exactly the same - gmp-chain gets behind corners and just... Chains. With a tabula and flame dam wand and +1 fire shield I got pretty much insta clear dps which I anticipate is already food for maps to some point. Also, flame totem works but iv yet to add in flammability. As I play casually that's darn fine. I wonder how much I lose out on not going flameball/flamewall manual vs slinger flamewall/wake of conviction (dont have spell trigger yet and it seened better than HoAsh). ign PhysicalActivity

Trickster will still feel good at the endgame because the changes doesnt mean much in the larger picture, but while leveling it can feel worse because it's a huge damage nerf and movement speed nerf, but when you get to endgame gear 50% increased damage isnt a big deal.
Fireball is still strong and you will have a early support for the flame wall (since they are moving efficacy to act 1) Also, maybe using OOS + Onslaught + added lightning AND Flame Wall + Efficacy + Scorching Ray might feel great for fast leveling / bossing in act 1. You will still have access to great elemental damage boosts in act 2 after Weaver though. I still think, that flame ball feels terrible for lvling untill about act 6 where you get ignite proliferation and more links for it, and you will still have to use a fast clear skill untill then and use the fireball on bosses. I don't know if Scorching Ray actually might feel good for lvling now since they buffed the cast speed and turn speed.
