Shattering steel - Random projectile (speed) distance

I wonder if this is intended or it is a bug but:

The projectiles fired have a very fluctuating - non-consistent range where they end.

Sometimes it's like 40 range, sometimes 60, sometimes till end of my screen (horizontally) ... I can't put my finger on how it is being determined?

Not that GGG will reply anyway, but here are screenshots:

Am I missing something about this skill???

And a video where i keep my mouse at same place

And one where i move my mouse... makes no difference

https://streamable.com/4n7d27

And here i keep my mouse key pressed... and turned off my aura's so to show the consistent attack speed etc

... This makes clearing a map very very irritating, and not being able to trust if I am able to breach a heist door (when firing projectile through, sometimes it hits the enemies, sometimes it doesn't due to range...)

And btw: I used Alternate Shattering steel, with extra projectile speed, but when switching to normal quality... same happens. So that makes no difference.
Using 2 shards is even more inconsitent between the projectiles:

Or if anyone else knows why this could happen, I would appreciate it.
I also noticed this, and submitted a bug for it: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2938487

Thx!

More info: it makes investment into projectile speed even worthless, I use the extra projectile speed to let them travel further, but it doesn't matter at all, the speed is totally ignored. (Distance for normal Shattering steel or The one with inc proj speed... same behaviour, never further away - the randomness)
Guess not many people play this skill to matter to be looked at :D
I wonder why noone notices this... am I the only one?

But just having read the announcement 'How we are developping differently' makes sense that if this might not get to have a fix either way as it is not game breaking.
