moardin25 Cool changes! I'm not a specialist but from what I'm reading Swift Affliction doesn't support RF. Since you already have it in your setup it should be easy to check in-game. Check the tooltip damage with and without it. Let us know, this is interesting :) But it looks like it should work with Scorching Ray pretty nicely!
The Overflowing Chalice is a cheap alternative to Witchfire Brew without the worry about curses and with consecrated ground bonus.
Also, I see you use Area Damage and Damage over time damage bonuses in your jewels, but jewels can also have Burning Damage and Fire Damage increases up to something like 35%. It could be a better option, if you have budget to replace the existing ones.

Regarding Swift Affliction, it gets stronger with Arcane Surge linked to it. only together are they worth using with RF, so you'd want to check to see if replacing Efficacy with Arcane Surge gives you more damage. There aren't a lot of damage nods for RF so removing Inspiration gives you less options. That being said, Inspiration works with both RF and SR. You could also put SR where Swift is and you'd have two 5-links in one helmet. You'd then have tons of space for more defence too.

Guys: Thanks for coming back to me this regular and showing me my wrong thinkings. This helps a ton.

You are right. The swift Affliction is NOT shown in RF linking, only in the Vaal RF linking. This means my intuition was right that it only pushes damage when using the Vaal skill. At least my intuition does not fool me ;)

This shows me again that I am a real RF noob still ;)

@WoD: I like the idea having two 5 links and an open 6 link for playing around without losing to much of a dps.

Now the question: Let's think a second and make a theory game. What If I had the 6 link chest free and use this setup:
Helmet: RF - SR - Burning Damage - Concentrated Effect - Elemental Focus - Efficacy

What would you use in the free 6-link to throw in the defence needed? Or maybe there is another offence option to throw up the dps to insane levels?

Damit, I see myself spending half the day looking for options here ^^

Any suggestions are welcome!

Best

Theory games is almost all we do in this game ;) Flame Wall is very strong offense option, you could try to set it up with a mix of utility in chest if you want. Several pages ago there is a post with level 95 char that uses RF and Flame Wall. And since you are already fine with casting SR then Flame Wall is actually easier because you don't need to channel it while standing still. So it also makes it a better defense, you can keep moving :)
Thanks for the great build, I reached lvl 90 and I'm working my way to red maps in the Atlas.

One thing I'm confused about is the use of Vaal RF, it only lasts 4 seconds. Did I miss something so clear as to how to sustain Vaal RF much longer?

Thanks for your help.
Thank you again, I will do this one during one of the 1 week coming leagues :)

I'm testing another change to the build. Nothing new that we haven't seen in the thread, but I think it works well, at least on paper and a few red maps I did. Btw, I spent a fortune on this (at least for my casual time spent on this game) and the Sceptre is still far from perfect.

The main features are "trigger a socketed spell when you use a skill" and "+1 to all fire spell skill gems".
We have a few fire spells that I think it was too good to not use it. Righteous Fire is the obvious one which now with corruption and enchant to +1 aoe makes it level 23. Huge boost to damage. The three other are Flammability, Wave of Conviction and Purifying Flame with the biggest gain is for level 21 is Purifying Flame where we gain +1 extra radius. If anyone is interested I suggest to check Divergent quality which gives %5 increased damage taken to enemies.
The issue with cwdt is we have to take damage and I'm not comfortable to take it with bosses. So this where "trigger a socketed spell when you use a skill" comes to help as it triggers each one spell every 4 seconds. And Storm Brand also should work well for bosses. An if somehow it attaches when to a mob when clearing that it would be another source of EO. It's not that we need it, but as someone said sometime the best defense is offense. Regarding defense, I got lucky when I slammed body armor with Warlord's Orb and I got "Recover 5% life on kill". This makes clearing packs pretty safe. Here are remaining items that still use the original idea of RF with golems, but it became so different than the original.

Any suggestions on improvements are welcome! I'm doing red maps and have 2 sets of 4 gemstones, but I've never been so far in the game, so I don't even know how to get to Sirius, Elder or Shaper haha. I did Catarina deathless, but the fight was strange because she was kind of immune most of the time until I figured out what was going on.
That's some nice gear Maniollo6! And cool modifications to the build! If you're having fun with it, it's working well :). You gear kicks the crap out of mine so it looks like you know what you're doing. Thanks for the post!

The options are totally dependant on the changes you've already made. They need to match your playstyle. For example, having something like CwDT level 1 with Withering Step level 1 is awesome for the default version of the build but pointless for the changes I've made. I'm using Cyclone which would cancel Withering Step the second it gets activated. So it depends on what you like. If you go defence, there are lots of fun low-level CWdT gems that can be used like Frost Wall, Void Sphere, Frost Bomb (lowers life regen). For offence you could make your RF a 6 link and go with SR and Searing Bond as a "double-5 link" in your chest.

The options are endless but will change as you go through and actually try things out in gameplay.

Good luck!

Thanks ArukadoZ!

Great job! That's awesome that you're doing well and having fun doing it :)

Vaal skills aren't designed to be sustainable. They are HUGE temporary perks...whether they are offensive or defensive. So Vaal RF is just a huge damage bonus so you want to be picky when you use it. If you increase the duration of skills, it'll increase the duration of perk, but it'll also increase the cooldown of the skill because you can start earning souls for it again.

Make sense? Thanks again for your kind words.

Hi Wrecker,

I just want to say thank you for this guide!

It's the easiest character I've played so far. I've just switched to using RF at level 66 a day ago. Although I'm only at level 73 now (just finished act 10 and merciless lab), everything is a breeze compared to my other characters.

Using random gears that I found but looking forward to enhancing it further..

Edit: I find my CWDT is leveled too high and not triggering as often as I would like. Maybe I'll have to re-level it and the linked spells (the ones linked to golems and immortal call)

Awesome tinivuel86!

You're welcome! Thank you for taking the time to be so kind and thoughtful. I'm glad you're having such a great time with it.

Don't worry too much about the higher level CwDT gem. I mean, you can make it (and it's triggered spells) whatever level you want, but you'll find that as you progress into the end game, the more damage enemies do, the more often it'll go off. It'll start going off quite a lot as you level up and progress.

Thanks again for your kindness.
