Game crashes at launch

I have this issue as well. Game starts perfectly. The dramatic GGG logo intro plays instantly. If I let it run or click to skip it then the game freezes and bricks my laptop. I can't close it with Task Manager and have to restart after every failed attempt. The game has run on this computer for 300+ hours so I know the specs are fine.

With this issue starting more than a month ago for a lot of other users in this thread it's a shame no official fix is posted. There are 10+ "tricks" on these forums posts but not a single response from GGG. To be expected if only a few of us have the issue. Why waste time with only a few customers.
Deleting the misc folders inside my POE game folder worked for me as well after trying just about everything else listed in this thread.

I have the weird situation in which I have tried everything and now it works but everytime I want to play I have to verify the steam game files. Start it again and it crashes. What the actual f00q. Now I have to wait 20 minutes everytime I want to START the game I cannot close the game when I want to do a quick chore because then I have to verify again. just WHY? Also the intro cinematic has no sound anymore.

If you crash with Vulcan try Editing production_Config.ini in your Poe folder in your documments
Open it with a text editor,Scroll down to SOUND and change the line reverb_enabled2=true to reverb_enabled2=false. Save and exit.

i wanted to try this after verifying my files, win update, driver update(sound and graphic), unplugging my audo devices, changed graphic setting for poe, reinstall....deleting files. nothing worked.

after i searched for the file i realized that it was completly empty, just 1kb big. No lines, no nothing.
Asked a friend for his file, copy-paste it into the folder. game started.
Maybee this will help someone else too

edit: it just started once. back to game crash it is again

edit2: tried the client version and it worked for me.

Hey guys, what worked out for me was changing from DirectX to Vulkan, now the game runs just fine, no crashes up to now

Hello Team,

I was trying to launch the game this morning and it crashes after 1-2 seconds, i can't even reach the login screen. I am using the Steam client, already tried to run the .exe file directly as an admin, my drivers are up to date, also tried to reinstall the game and i am still encountering the same issue. Please advise what should i try next.

Thanks,
Arkie

Disabling the sound did not work for me. Adding here in case of anyone with same issue.

Go to:
C:\...\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile

Delete all the daily deals, countdown, MOTDS, Minimap, shop images.

Worked for me.

obrigado amigo voce eh um amigo thx vary mush
Hello! I have same problem.
Win 10, 22H2
Intel i5 - 11400f
16 GB Ram
Nvidia 3050 RTX

But I was able to partially solve this problem:
1) Launch the game(need play in window)
2) Switch to another window (preferably full-screen, for example a browser or Steam itself), the main thing is to make the POE window the background.
3) Wait until POE loads to the main menu and opens the window again. That's it, it works, you can play (it doesn't crash for me, the problem is with launching/loading the game, it loads the CPU by 100%)

But I have a question, why the **ck does it work like that and what did the developers do with the CPU load? Maybe changing the settings to one core will help, but I don't want to try it.
If my method helped someone, write, I'm wondering if this is just my feature, or does it work for everyone?

Upd: I found another solution that does not require any windows and swaps between them.
We take and turn off the CPU multithreading in the game settings and everything works. It freezes a little when loading, but it loads and even quickly.
I hope I helped someone as much as I helped myself. GL HF!
