[Bug] Minimap Data not saved / Minimap keeps resetting (Maybe workaround inside)

Managed to fix for myself:

The problem seems to be special characters in folder names. My username did not have any special characters, but my Documents folder did. It wasn't clear at first because the Documents folder looked like it was called Documents but in OneDrive(where it was stored) it was actually called "Skjöl" behind the scenes.

If your Documents folder is stored on OneDrive and you want to check for its real name it's easy. Just go to the My Games/Path of Exile/ folder as usual and click in the address bar to see the real path.

My fix: Go to OneDrive on the web, rename the folder to Documents, close all windows and programs that might be using the Documents folder on my computer and wait for the name change to sync(there is a OneDrive icon in the bottom right of your taskbar where you can see status of syncing changes between computer and web)

Hope this helps someone.
I fixed this problem for me.
In my case, folder with minimaps always create, but cannot create files in this folder.
"My documents" on windows 10 was in OneDrive, and if you stop synchronised this folder with OneDrive and start saving this data on your PC, it will help you.

Sorry for bad English =(
I hope this solution can help someone like me =) Stay safe, Exiles!

Thanks for finding the cause of the problem.
Personally I don't want to change my document folder name though which might break other things. POE worked so far, so that should be changed back by GGG. I don't use English as language on my computer.

Stop eating animals now.
Fixed.
Changed name of my account folder from
C:\Users\Илья to C:\Users\Ilya

You need other administrator account.

!!Do it at your own risk!!
If you not sure, better wait to hotfix from GGG.

0. Prepare your Save-point in Windows. (Optional)

1. Change the folder name. ex: C:\Users\*oldusername* to C:\Users\*newusername*
2. Press Win+R. Type "cmd"
3. Type "wmic useraccount list full"
3. Check your SID. ex: S-1-2-34-5678901234-5678901234-567890123-1001
4. Press Win+R
5. Type "regedit"
6. Go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-2-34-5678901234-5678901234-567890123-1001
7. ProfileImagePath: C:\Users\*newusername*

Never had my windows username in unicode, but the full path to PoE folder still have it:

C:\Users\johan\OneDrive\Документы\My Games\Path of Exile

wtb fix asap =(
Hello,

Creating a new windows profile helped, but what i did, was, after create a new profile and configure all the settings, i copied the /Mygames/Path of Exile folder, back into the main profile.

At least i don't have to be changing settings every time i log into poe.

But, map still resets, and can't save options, Hideout seems bugged as well..

U can play in new windows profile, but i didn't want have to configure everything outside the game.

Thanks for help.

Best Regards,

A going insane PoE Player...

EDIT: FINALY - Ok, I figured out a fix (at least for Windows 10).

Go to Windows Defender Security Center, then go to Virus and Threat Protection (Should be a picture of a shield). After that, go to Virus and Threat Protection Settings, and scroll down until you see "Controlled Folder Access". Disable this.

I don't know if its a windows problem or A PoE problem at this point. Or if even this is safe to do.

Good Luck and stay healthy

This worked for me only instead of disabling it I added POE from the list of blocked apps.
