[3.17.5] Devon's Minion Instability Skeletons | Extremely High DPS | Thread locked... made new one

3.18 Changes for this build
----------------------------------------------------
New thread here (this one will be updated): https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3274236

Remade the tree quite a bit, uses mroe clusters now. Lost a bit of damage over the leagues but still really good.
----------------------------------------------------

My atlas tree: https://bit.ly/3sdPgkB

Pros
+ Giga Boss killer
+ can do almost all maps mods
+ fast map clears (Infernal Legion Skellies + Spectres)
+ works on a budget (cheap main gear)
+ doesn't depend on flask damage
+ decent league starter (just needs 2 Earendel's Scepters to work)

Cons
- really expensive to max out, around 15-20ex (Elder Helmet and jewels mostly)
- ele reflect bad for spectres
- Somewhat Squishy
- needs 2 Earendel's Sceptres to work (sry SSF bois)

THE BUILD

How does it work?

The build uses Vaal Summon Skeletons for bossing and for clearing maps. Vaal Summon Skeletons is an amazing skill in combination with Minion Instability since it has the regular summon for clearing maps and the Vaal counterpart that was made for decimating bosses. Damage mostly depends on the Life of the Skeletons, Minion Damage and what's linked to them. This is why the main skill setup is placed inside the Elder Helmet.

Leveling

General tips:

Spoiler
- Can use one Praxis ring to handle the mana costs for a while
- prioritize Life and Resistances -> a good starting item is Goldrim, you can basically wear it to maps with the resists it provides, afterwards you want an armor based helm with life and resists
- boots should have movement speed -> Wanderlust are a great choice for starting out, later on equip armor boots with movespeed, life and some resistances
- links are important, more links more damage -> at Act I you should have a 3L, at Act III a 4L and around Act V if you get lucky or buy one (shouldn't be too expensive) buy a 5L chest and throw an alch/essence on it
- minion life and minion damage both help you with damage

Guide:

Spoiler
As soon as you kill Hillock, make sure to take the reward gem, Summon Zombies. Use these guys with an addition of a simple spell like Fireball or Freezing Pulse. This simple combo will be good enough to start out. After you finish the quest Breaking Some Eggs pick up Summon Raging Spirits and use that in combination with your Zombies. This will enable you to kill Brutus with ease after which you will acquire the primary skill of this build, Summon Skeletons, along with the Infernal Legion support gem. You will also be able to purchase Flame Dash so pick it up for ease of movement. Make sure to support both Summon Skeletons and SRS with Minion damage and Infernal Legion. At act 2 pick up Elemental Focus for later on (when you get a 4L) to increase the damage of the explosions from Minion instability and the damage from Infernal Legion.

As with any starter build it is recommended to use Tabula Rasa if you are able to acquire it. Place both Summon Skeletons + SRS inside and support them with the same gems: Infernal Legion, Minion Damage, Minion Life and Elemental Focus. With this setup you can go to maps without worrying about your primary skill placing. Keep in mind that any damaging gems will help you at the start, such as: Minion Damage, Minion Speed, Added fire, Added Cold. Once you have your primary skill setup it should be smooth sailing until you hit maps.

As the passive tree states, make sure to get that Minion Instability notable as soon as possible for the extra damage on minions once they die with the help of Infernal Legion support and the Earendel’s Embrace scepter.

Passive tree, Ascendancy, Bandits and Pantheon

Passive Tree

https://pobb.in/TO_DNbiHarh0

Ascendancy

1.) Mindless Aggression
2.) Unnatural Strength
3.) Bone Barrier
4.) Plaguebringer

Bandits

Necessary: Kill all.

Pantheon

Bosses:
Brine King/Solaris + Ryslatha - Best overall survivability, stun/freeze can be a pain in the ass, Solaris good in general for Bossing and Ryslatha is good for refilling your Blood of Karui flasks on boss fights

Mapping:
Lunaris + Shakari - Move speed + Chaos damage reduction

All Links

Aim for 21/20 Vaal Summon Skeletonsand a 21 Raise Spectre gem.

IMPORTANT: Highly recommended to socket Vaal Summon Skeletons inside the Elder Helmet and the Spectres inside the Chestpiece.

[from most important to least, prioritize like this]

Helmet (pseudo 6L) - Vaal Summon Skeletons = Minion Life (Helmet,20) > Minion Damage (Helmet,20) > Fire Penetration (20/20) > Elemental Focus(20/20) > Infernal Legion (20/20,mapping) or Concentrated Effect (20/20,bossing)

Body Armour (6L) - Raise Spectre = Combustion(20/20) > Elemental Army(20) > Greater Multiple Projectiles(20/20) > Feeding Frenzy(20/20) > Spell Echo(20/20)

Spectres should be Solar Guards or the Flame Sentinels. They need to be a large AoE fire dealing bois to apply the combustion/elemental army effects.
A good alternative are Zombies that would be used to tank most of the damage instead of you. If you decide on Zombies make sure to switch GMP and Spell Echo with Added Fire and Meat Shield so they can apply the fire debuffs and taunt enemies.

Weapon 1 (3L) = Defiance Banner(20/20) + Chaos Golem(20/20) + Meat Shield(20)

Weapon 2 (3L) = Flame Dash(20/20) + Culling strike(1/20) + Clarity(5/0)

Boots/Gloves (4L) = Summon Skitterbots(20) + Determination(20) + Flesh and Stone(20/20) + Enlighten(3)

Boots/Gloves (4L) = Desecrate(20) + Wave of Conviction(20/20) + Curse on Hit(20/20) + Flammability(20)

Gear

Recommended uniques:

Use a Tabula Rasa or a 5L Bloodbond until you get a 6L Bloodbond. Use Earendel's Embrace's as soon as possible.

My gear:

IMPORTANT: This Helmet is the min-maxed version (the only thing missing is the appropriate uber lab enchant. You can use a simple lvl18/20 minion life + lvl18/20 minion damage elder helmet and it's going to cost Significantly less.

Crafting an Endgame_Ultra_Expensive_Amulet:
Spoiler
Used jade amulet as an example, it can be any base (life regen, mana regen, onyx etc.) but both of the amulets need to be the same base.
Get an ilvl85 Jade Hunter influenced amulet, alt until you hit the "+1 to int gems" mod. (85 because you will use it as the base, 85 gives the chance of rolling t1 all resists and 82 is the minimum for the int gems mod).
Get an ilvl68 Jade Elder influenced amulet, alt until you hit the +1 skellies mod.
Get an awakener's orb.

Awakener's orbs are spent by right-clicking the orb, left-clicking a donor item, and then left-clicking a target item.
So right-click the orb, left-click the Elder amulet (donor) and then left-click on the Hunter amulet (target).

This will give a rare amulet with random modifiers but will keep the skellies and the int mod.

Note: The pickles (blood of karui) are the best.

Anointment:

The best Anointment:
Herbalism - it helps with your Blood of Karui flasks which also benefit from the Ryslatha pantheon

My personal current achievements with the build:

Killed all of the Conquerors (awakening 8, deathless)
Killed Sirus (awakening 8)
Killed Shaper (deathless)

Hope you guys like it, if you have any more questions feel free to ask down below.

How are you making up for the loss of 30% to all resistances in 3.10? "Get better rares" isn't really an answer since it makes the entry level of the build way more expensive than whatever you originally planned.

One of the necromancer's most attractive aspects in 3.8 and 3.9 was the ability to use mostly uniques and subsequently relatively cheap rares, but losing a total of 90% res for takers of bone barrier makes that way harder. At least regular minion builds can take commander of darkness instead, but instability builds... are not that.

This build only benefited from 3 spectres and 1 Stone golem. So you are losing 12% to all resistances. It's not that bad as you make it out to be. Example gloves, instead of the minion damage craft you will have resistances, that's it.

Any specific spectres recommended for this build?
Have you found a good spectre out of the new ones released or using the good old Solar Guards?

Ah sry, forgot to answer this, yep Solar Guards or the Flame Sentinels. They need to be a large AoE fire dealing bois to apply the combustion/elemental army effects. Will update guide for it.

Hahahaha man, I ran out of pastabins for the day so I had to use the long code (it still worked, you just import all of that into PoB).
Anyways, it's a pastabin now lol.

How is it holding up in higher level Deliriums? I found a pretty dang good cluster with 'recently summoned minions get 30% movespeed and 30% damage' and a fat old life/damage node. I was kind of thinking of doing the good ol' SRS popcorn build, but skeletons are fun to blow up, too.
Do the skeletons cause minion instability when you keep casting them and they expire, or is it specifically when their health drops to the 33%? Because if you can't spam them, then wouldn't srs be a better choice? I'm actually looking forward to crafting a weapon with "trigger a socketed spell" mod so I can use both srs and skeletons.
