Changes to the Atlas of Worlds in Path of Exile: Delirium

I'm not seeing anything in here that reduces the pressure to run T14-T16 maps. My biggest issue with the endgame right now is that it pushes everyone into running the most dangerous content available, even if they're not comfortable with that, and the Delirium mechanic isn't going to help with that. I think this is at the root of many of the one-hit kill complaints, where people are being pushed by the mechanics into running T14-T16 before getting the gear to be able to do that safely. The change to awakening levels to be number of watchstones/4 is going to mean that there's no good way to run yellow maps with an awakening level of 0.

I'm also unsure why I would ever complete Awakening Bonus Objectives on purpose; increasing the effect of modifiers seems like a good way to make the endgame more deadly without any way to back off if you realize you've gone too far.

This exactly. The problem is experience scaling and trade.

I am absolutely forced to run content near my level, as economically I need high ilvl for lewtperhour and developmentally being lvl 85 makes being anywhere outside t16 a literal waste of time.

It's the slot machine approach. I have to be in the hardest content to keep up with required pulls per second.

The ONLY league where this wasn't the case was betrayal because I could assemble and then cash out syndicate configurations and I was GUARANTEED reward per hour from it via scarabs and research upgrades.

If you want to make the game harder for the no-lifers, ADD content that does this, but altering the base content to push a majority of the more casual players away is ALWAYS a bad business decision.

As a no lifer (disabled and addicted) I completely agree. It's like when they made getting lvl 100 harder. Their changes had zero impact below 90, just do stuff like that.

I already can't do the majority of endgame things. This is the one league in 7 years where I actually killed the current boss of the game during league.

I still played constantly and spent money. But I would have felt a lot better about it if it wasn't so punishing being outside fully juiced maps and one shot bosses.

Seriously deeply tired of one shit mechanics. There needs to be a final damage cap on monster output to prevent one shots or burst kills. It's griefy not exciting.

I haven't felt a poe death was earned and fair in ages. I'm always feeling cheated and regardless of cause that's their failure since managing player feelings is the ENTIRE POINT of gaming.

We pay to feel good. When it doesn't feel good, they've failed.

This is a little disappointing. Don't see the reason for completely removing drop tier bonus. at least reduce it but keep the only actually good incentive.

Also I mostly play standard, and I am fine if my progress is reset but I can achieve completion with old maps, but if my watchstones get reset then I will be very upset. Please GGG do not make the mistake of removing our watchstones.
My two cents on map sustain:

Map sustain has been possible in every league before this one. Thus the removal of that bonus gets us no worse than it's always been prior. But what I haven't seen mentioned (haven't read all 48 pages of this thread) is the effect of the Delirium league mechanic. Metamorph added a single boss that didn't really drop that many tier 14+ maps. Delirium is going to add insane numbers of mobs to all maps if you engage with it.

Obviously it's all speculation until the league starts, but I wouldn't be surprised if the monster count per map is so high in 3.10 that map sustain doesn't take a hit at all compared to 3.9 (and certainly will be higher than any pre-3.8 league).

Lol - did any of you guys actually expect anything different from TenCent?

If you legit did expect something different, you have a lot to learn.

Increasing the grind keeps people playing, and keeps that $$$ flowing in (extra tabs, character slots, MTXs, etc).

Every time TenCent increases the grinding requirement, they make more money. That will hold true until people completely stop giving them any money whatsoever, for an extended period of time.

Which of course will never happen, so expect more grind, expect more chase, expect more bugs, expect more complexity and superficial layers of "difficulty" ad infinitum.

PoE 2 will be even worse. So if you hate the direction of the game, plan on hating it for a LONG time.

Otherwise, play it and have fun where you can.

Thanks mate, I rarely visit the forums but when I do, reading posts like yours always bring a smile on my face. :)

It's 2020, you have access to all the information, educational channels, you can literally become a genius in a couple of years if you really try.

And then comes people like you with their "opinions" that literally make no sense.

Ohh boy, don't stop being you! I am always a fan of free comedy. :)

Much love, my man. I aims to please! ;)

Glad I could help bring a smile to your face. One day, long into the future, you'll look back and realize, "Man that Baloosh dude really did know the future, and it was even entertaining to boot!"

Oh, you'll remember. In those deep, dark places you don't like to talk about, that's where my memory will be. You can just consider me your Synthesis bro. Always there... always in a distant memory.

;)
Do you update your game based on player satisfaction instead of making more net profit?

Be a lot cooler if you did.
I get abused by GGG staff every time I post because I started the Fix Your Game meme. Pathetic and unprofessional.
It's not that it "feels random", it's that it IS BROKEN. I just ran 17 maps (tier 14-15, with 4 stones socketed) without spawning a conqueror. Maybe I just have terrible luck? But the odds are (2/3)^17 of that happening, or one chance in 985.
So did I get this right? I currently have 154/154 Bonus objectives, when my character is moved to standard this will be 0 / 154? Oo

WHY? Isn't the point of standard to KEEP one's progress? Resetting stuff is what new leagues are for, no?
