Trying out archers this league, swapped from mages, currently more issues than when I was skele mages.

Felt like mages single target was not the greatest but after swapping over, feels even worse. Clear has also suffered compared to mages.

POB linked, looking for some feedback.

Am aware that gem levels are low, recently flipped to 20q, and wand has cold damage which messes up EE (will replace soon, or might spec into avatar of fire), but even without EE it feels god awfully weak at the moment.
Not sure if there's something else that I'm missing.

Can archers be played without scaling crit? Would it be worth scaling crit without a crit helmet?

Probably looking to replace wands next, but would lionseye vision chest be a better investment over +2 duration gem tabula?


Mages definitely have better clear, but theoretically archers have better DPS on bosses. The EE thing is bigger than you think - instead of -50% (from +50% base on bosses), they gain 25% bringing them to 75% - AKA you're doing 1/4 of the damage you should. Remove two life nodes, and grab avatar of fire as a quick temp fix til you replace that wand.

Reference the endgame archer PoB even though it's not updated yet (will have to playtest archers again to update that one post harvest). That one did not scale crit - crit's super expensive for minions.

lioneye's is good. I'm using a +2 tabula for mages specifically since I can swap two greens for two blues at will. Archers can use two greens just fine on bosses since Vic Proj is one of the best supports.

Starting 3.10 (after the first set of major nerfs, and with the introduction of cluster jewels) I cut out scaling minion life, and instead started recommending "blessed rebirth" on minion life cluster jewels. Thus -25% minion HP is literally no difference to us.

Hello. Thanks for ur guide. Wanna try mages, but I'm noob and guide details focused more on warriors/archers, so only pob for mages :(

Is this mage pob updated for current patch? Because I see here message like this "Carrion golem for stone golem" but in pob you use chaos.

Also what is best large jewel nodes with 3 passives? Same as warriors with renewal and vicious bite?

And in your pob u are focusing on chaos resistance in gear. Thats not bad with almost all rare parts. But what do you think about any uniques? Is there any cool for ur build? Also unique jewels for summoners. Or rares is better anyway?
Thank you for the skele mage guide! Learnt a lot from it.
Trying to make a few changes to the build I am playing. Went with Necromantic Aegis(Victario's charity) and EVF for spectres. Planning to spec out of EE and use Fleshcrafter chestpiece instead. Will let you all know how this goes!

That's mostly experience on my end, having played warriors/archers for multiple leagues whereas mages were "new" in 3.13 and I only played a bit. I'm currently playing through mages now and should have a better iteration later. I'm currently using chaos golem now - think I swapped it in place of stone but forgot to update that.

Definitely not vicious bite. Mages can't go crit since you use controlled destruction as a link. Probably renewal/feasting/call

Rares tend to be better, but there's cool stuff like Bisco's Leash or Breathstealers that can be substituted.

Sounds good! It should be very strong. My issue with victario's is that skellies are temporary minions, a new resummon may destroy a 3 frenzy charge skelly in place of a 0 charge one - so unlike permanent minions, you only get the benefit say half the time.

I’m running the cold conversion melee version, do you all think it’s worth it to run skelemages? My gear is straight trash because I play in a duo and we have pumped his character with all the currency but he has what he needs now.

Both work well. I find mages with Vaal Summon Skeletons super good for this mechanic in particular so I'm enjoying that quite a lot.

On the other hand, I feel that hatred might be nerfed next league (collateral damage from spectres and SST, even though we did it first), which may very well spell the end of the cold version since it's mostly built around hatred.
