Real money trading forbidden policy is dead and irrational
First of all I want to state that I never ever had intention to buy PoE orbs for real money. And I dont want to promote such actions so long as it is not allowed. My actions were just research from curiosity.
So how long does it take to make poe orbs transaction - probably less then 5 min. I'm Polish, quick search on one of most popular auction/shopping site. [Removed by Support] In game, being on any global or trade chat, on average every 1min bot or human from spam account spams a message advertising real money orb selling. So now we see that the law is dead, ppl trade real money for orbs, people farm orbs for sell for real money. It is not possible to ban them, because one behind VPN may just create spam accounts one after another. So not possible to ban IP range etc. Now why the policy is irrational? That is because PoE is not a recognised e-sport. There is no international community that organizes tournaments. PoE is a game to play at home for fun and entertainment. GGG doesn't have enough resources to prevent real money trading and banning extensive bot usage. This means, any person who uses bots to help him in a league, gains advantage, thus competition is unfair, so there is no point in competing at all or the competition simply is who uses bots better. The only game mode in which perhaps there is some little room for competition is SSF. So if there is no reasonable competition it wouldn't really hurt much to allow real money trading officially. 1) Real money transaction is neutral to the in game economy. One player gains exactly the same value as other one looses. 2) GGG could charge fees on every real money transaction. 3) For ppl who don't play standard, there would be more motivation to farm currency after e.g. completing all challenges, reaching "total endgame point". Thus spending more time in game. There would be always possiblity to sell the surplus currency as there is no point playing standard. 4) There could be then possibility to exchange ingame currency for microtransactions directly. I think you are missing the main point.
GGG founders and developers find RMT and P2W at odds with their core values and beliefs. What you think, or feel, is actually irrelevant. Make your own game. Until then we have to respect and understand GGG vision for the game, its ToS, and its EULA. (And CoC here/in-game) Full stop. " BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH <inhales> BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA GGG was founded by four guys who met bcoz they spent 12+ hours a day buying and selling Diablo 2 gear [Removed by Support] In fact, during PoE beta, you could buy and sell PoE gear there, too. Last edited by Sam_GGG#0000 on Jan 24, 2020, 5:22:47 PM

" Except, you know, reality and all that. But feel free to morally crusade against the fact that RMT is extremely rampant and virtually unchecked. I dont care either way what they do, but if you have policies, they should be enforced. Otherwise, if you wont enforce them, change the policies. |

Hmm... since this all boils down to just numbers in a database I guess some of these could be irrational or even imaginary.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2247070 |

A curious fact...
Did you know that the developers themselves in their stubbornness make people fall into the world of Cheat and RMT? A PoE without shadows. Shadows only cause worse graphic performance on some older computers. The game does not allow play without shadows. A search of how to remove the shadows in PoE will inevitably lead you to a program that someone created for some time ago that removes the shadows and does other things (all illegal) and from there you are 1 step away from the rmt sites. If users know it, developers know it. So... Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?

The discussion might be moot, but it's still an interesting thought experiment.
RMT, much like scalable P2W, blurs the line between a job and a game by making the economic boundaries permeable. One of the primary dynamics of a loot-based ARPG is in-game economic growth. For those with a job in an industrialized country this aspect of the game would be rendered basically inoperative. Why feel happy at finally having a rare item drop for you after 10 hours of play when you could have just bought it for $15? Do you work for $1.50 an hour? It would destroy the game for many players. And if you subscribe to the notion that PoE is more of a slot machine simulator than an actual game based on, you know, gameplay, then you could say it would destroy the game for most. meh the real point of the threat removed by..
they dont even enforce their bot rules or macro you expect them to do the same with this.. naive or innocent.. "Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure." Once you break the cycle of fear no angels or demons can whisper you their sweet nothing words. poe2 = ruthless 2.0 = bad. Last edited by Xystre#4581 on Jan 24, 2020, 8:35:22 PM
