You should be able to use any unique or good rares you find. I just can not give a proper opinion on how the build feels with less investment because I created the build around these top end Items I had already.
If you damage is too low you will however more often fall out of flicker chains and have to use double strike more often.

Hey man sick build currently level 55 with it - are you using any cluster jewels for this build as i am intrigued to try Impale perhaps or Atk dmg, thanks.

Cluster Jewels were not there when I created the build. But there are some very strong options for sure.

Did not look too far in mathils build but those are solid most of the time
Will check out the leveling pastebin. It only provides some leveling uniques though. The leveling section is in the main paste bin. just change the tree at the bottom left

I still have no exact overview of what you can do. But in general most dual wield/ attack cluster jewels are great.

Might be slightly offtopic because im not following this build 100% but I just got a tab at level 10 im leveling as double strike what 6 link setup would be the best?

I could sell it if I really dont need a 6 gem set up for double strike.

Very dependant on your version of the build.
Since you level as double strike and mostly phys I guess you could go for:
Vaal Double Strike
Impale
Close Combat
Melee Phys
Ancestral Call
Melee Splash

Other alternatives are:
Ruthless
Multistrike
