IS THE FUTURE OF ACTION RPG BEHIND US ?
Maybe they should just put POE from a first-person perspective. It would solve the bloat of Cyclone players at least. XD

I would not really call POE a true action rpg, I still don't understand why people call it that, and not just you,but many even from GGG, it's not an action RPG.
It's more of a classical hack and slash(aka button masher), with some rpg elements in it and of course the loot,it's always about the loot. Calling poe an action based rpg game is like calling dark souls a "fighting game" while you do fight in dark souls, it's not exactly mortal kombat or street fighter is it? Implementing some of the ideas you threw out there would change the core of this game, and it would lose the main focus of it, button mashing and loot gathering. The ideas are nice, but I don't think they would work in the way that you think they would work. I think they would simply change the game in a way that would make even you not want to play it. Because it would simply lose that thing that makes you come back league after league and mash those buttons, hit those flasks, gather that loot. There is still a lot of room for innovation in this genre, however if it loses what makes the core of the game great, then you changed the genre of the game as well. I can't answer the titular question, but I can confidently predict that the past of the Action RPG is ahead of us.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
