Why is there no auction house in POE?
" Well when your game is completely free, you have to have a source of revenue. They are a business, and they have overhead to pay for. If it wasn't for MTX, we wouldn't be here and would all be playing a different game since they would be unable to pay for costs on their end. It's not like everyone at GGG works for free ya know.
" Preach that load of crap to someone else. There is plenty of things they are selling that can make them money not just the tabs.
" What other things are they selling besides MTX and tabs? Please, wise one, enlighten us. And since the game is free, and since you have 20+ characters, most of which are level 80+ you played this game a LOT like most other people. Yet you bitch about buying something that you don't have to buy? Clearly there is something wrong with your logic. Nobody is forcing you to buy anything. And if you do decide you want a premium tab, you can upgrade one of the 4 that you get for free for ONE DOLLAR! ONE FUCKING DOLLAR and still you bitch. " I am really don't think arguing with you in possible you just outright ignore reality. How does this "So yes this(arbitrary ideas) is the only arguments you have. That statement is perfectly correct in context of this thread." means i agreed with you that somehow i lied somewhere. Because sure as hell that statement was was quite correct. BUT EVEN IF we assume i a lied and i am wrong, this still does not mean i stopped arguing and agreed with you in any reality based on that quote. So given that you consistently ignore the actual text and come up with arbitrary ideas on what i said i am done. As i was told once you can't argue with an idiot he will bring you down to his level and beat you down with experience. Lesson learned. |

I'm talking about the tabs not the skill effects and gear. I'm sure they make way more on other things besides tabs. FOR your INFO tabs are NOT 1 fucking dollar...... You have to spend LEAST 5 bucks. So tabs are more like $10. Tell me how you add one damn dollar to the account to buy a tab, when they are $5 plus.

" That is the very misconception at pricing. If you going that way too hard, you will be suffered for "lowballers". "I could make it myself if I have xxx of yyy orbs which worth zzz in the market and you overpricing it, SCAMMER !" Who decides the "10%" for what logic ? Because we have to pay taxes ? But for what ? To share the good result for god sake ? No. Don't do it. Pre-taxing is meant to tax on pre-price. Means you should not pre-tax on after-price. Obviously because those who don't have excess money cannot pay larger tax for the after-price which restricts the activity of "many" more than "few" have more and claiming "I paid more and I have a right to ask more". Consumption tax (not a purpose tax) is REALLY BAD. It simply increase the costs and lose its value no matter if the economy going good or bad. For those in a bad economical state suffers harder. " Sorry, I shouldnt say value, I meant listing price. So the seller defines the price. In other games it works like this. You put up a listing for 100c item. If it sells, game charges you a 5% cut. If it does not sell, it charges a 2% cut or 2c. So you paid to have it listed, but not as much as if you sold it. Some people have objected that there is no gold in PoE, how do you calculate 2% of... for example, 3c. My point was vendors already do have values of orbs compared to other orbs, so its not impossible.
Sorry for random edits. Please read my previous post. (and please ignore if I missed your point.)
Official price is a pair of fair trade (e.g. dark money changer, automated currency traders in game. I'm not going to freak out or judge.) We are not going to have one. We can say "don't go that hard" afterwards at least. We have "dealers" in real life not because they (small but dedicated dealers) are saints but they are doing their job on their own risk often. Probably said somewhere else in this thread but joist going to add it as my 2 cents.
The difficulty of the current trading system isn't whats stopping people from progressing too fast. You can easily get any item you need within a few minutes if you're quick and its not like mirror tier items. I think the game progression is definitely gated by time spent playing rather than trading. Sure there are currency flippers out there but as a casual player who occasionally buys MTX, the main thing stopping me from progressing quicker is the lack of anything to even trade, which just requires hours spent playing to build up items to trade and eventually gear up. Whether I visit an auction house or someone else's HO might save me at most a few minutes each time. those minutes are not ones where I'm enjoying content. I think the real issue is how to monetize an auction house. It would probably be seen as pay to win if you had to pay for access to an auction house, and that would be very bad for GGG's image in certain markets. Instead there's this roundabout way of monetizing premium tabs that gives someone the ability to really interact with trade, and for some reason that is not considered by most people to be a pay-to-win situation. Solution? An NPC that stays in your HO that is basically your personal AH, and you get a small (maybe half a tab) area to list public items. Then, sell (for real money) tab expansions for that NPC, perhaps even specialized trade tabs, that way everyone has access so its not seen as pay-to-win, but there is a strong incentive to buy extra tabs for your merchant to expand your listing and facilitate the game, exactly what happens with stash tabs now. This would have the added benefit that you could set a player count cap on hideouts and severely hamper trade bots.
There is no functional difference between the AH on the path of exile website, then having one in game, other than trying to pretended that you don't have an AH already. This is the heart of the issue.
