I have had a very very slow start to this league played no more than 8 hours so far (dammit but IRL stuff conflicts with gaming at times lol)

what I have noticed so far is that the damage nerf is noticeable but the build seems to still be in a very solid and safe place for dps and mitigation, will be into maps etc... by weekend then I am off for 3 weeks so have some playtime to come :D

Damn man, I was getting on here to get feedback from people assuming everyone was pretty much into maps now.
I'm like lvl 50 something. Moving slow here too as my family expects me to do other stuff. I got all the kids phones so they would leave me alone. They still expect me to feed them though. WTF.

Reading some stuff here and there that leads me to believe us summoners might have to make a few adjustments for some endgame bosses.
I am not in any way geared up with anything yet. Still running around with negative resists and a mish-mash of gems. I have noticed the nerfs too. A few bosses have wrecked me sideways but nothing that has me concerned once I gear up.

Last question from my side.

Once you curse with Temporal Chains monsters are marked with a side ways X,
next thing that happens it turns to purple type circle with different offset of purple. No the monster explode if you can call this.

Is there a way to Increase this effect, from curse to explosion>

Not 100% sure what you mean here but maybe you are just seeing the zombies slamming the mobs into dust. They kind of explode when they do that.

Hi,

Nice, easy to read guide, and the playstyle is exactly what this gnarled MMORPG veteran is looking at:)

I played when PoE released, until 2014 and am back now. So many changes :)

I have started a witch (level 5 heh) - and want to go the pet path.

I have a few questions - what / where are spectre pets?I read some posts and they seem another type of pet? Do those figure in this build? Do the passives apply to them too?

Are corrupted areas still there? I remember getting some special skill gems at low levels - in Mar 2014 (so I could be wrong), from a area off regular newbie zones.

I still have a lot of catching up to do!

Thanks a lot again.

Raise Spectre is a gem you can get starting level 28. It raises a corpse as itself, so unlike zombies it can use the abilities it had while it was alive. (With some exceptions, of course. Your spectre necromancer won't be raising hordes of skeletons for you, no matter how funny that wouled be.)

Our minion buffs affect spectres too, so despite the fact that you can only get a few of them, they hit like a truck if you pick the right monster to raise. The wiki has an extensive list of suggestions but the two most popular ones seem to be the Slave Drivers from act 5 and Solar Guards from the Solaris Temple. Slave Drivers do electrical damage (not a great fit with our Elemental Equilibrium) but the Solar Guards do fire damage, so that's usually my pick. I swap them in place of the Offering skill set personally, with Minion Damage (or life), Meat Shield, and Spell Echo. Meat Shield will cause them to taunt enemies, which I like because I found the Offering mostly went off as I got 1-shotted in maps.

Corrupted Vaal side areas are still a thing. It's your best chance to find a Vaal Summon Skeletons gem early on without buying one. You'll start seeing them soon.

Don't you just hate it when you feed them, and then they grow and expect you to get them new clothes and stuff? It's like a never-ending cycle.

Here is something else that helped me figure out wtf I was doing;
List of active skill gems:
https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Skill_gem
List of support skill gems:
https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Support_Skill_Gems

Click on the gem in question and you will see where (or how) and when you can get them.
Once you reach the "epilogue" (end of the acts) there will be a vendor with all available gems you can BUY. Some gems are drop only.

Also, when you hover over a gem in a vendor window you will see a little window pop up that will tell you if that gem is compatible with skill gems you are using.

....just something that was helpful for me.

Thanks a lot all!

with violent dead jewel gone, what jewel should i get?
any uniques recommended?
Hey clockerrs11!

I don't really pay attention to uniques. Sorry. But there are tons of great rare jewels that boost tons of minion stats, taunt on minion hits, give you health...but I'm sorry I couldn't answer your question specifically.

I played soulwrest necromancer the past couple of leagues and wanted something a bit different. But only a little bit different! I love being a necro-coward hiding behind my minions too much as my basic playing style. This is a perfect switch-up that lets me keep the same playing style but, well... different. Loving it so far. Huge thanks for the guide!
Thanks Foogalicious!

I appreciate you taking the time to let me know! Thank you. I'm glad you like it! I'm really happy with the balance changes GGG made to minions for 3.9.

Feel free to provide feedback on the guide or build if you feel the urge.

Let me know how it goes as you get deeper into endgame!

Thanks again!

Hey jgundlach!

Once you select Whispers of Doom on the tree you'll be able to apply both curses. What is sounds like is happening now, is Enfeeble is being applied to an enemy and then Temporal Chains overrides it. Whispers of Doom fixes that.

Our build doesn't have any explosion mechanics in it. But we do increase the effectiveness of our curses substantially in this build. As high as we can.

Does that make sense?

Feel free to ask whatever you like :).
