Path of Exile: Conquerors of the Atlas - Awakener Kill Event

Soft SSF that would have been ok but HC, well... not an event for me.
But still GL to those who will participate.

Sure they could.

Thing is that irl time should not be a factor at all. It makes no sense.

It should all be about in game play time.

Having tons of time IRL means everything for an event like this.

Seriously, do you people have such expectations for any other kind of sport? Of course having more time available to play is an advantage. It would be an advantage in practically any other endeavor as well, from athletics to hackathons to competitive eating. I don't see people whining about that discrepancy in those fields, so quit doing it here. Excelling at something requires devoting yourself to it. If you can't do that that's fine. Just stop lashing out at those who've managed to organize their lives to be able to do so.

Having tons of time but lacking the skill required to beat the content only results in more frustrating deaths, over and over, without accomplishing anything. Without the ability to trade, items get lost and progress does reset.

In my opinion, the winners will have been blessed by skill, time and proper drop luck for potentially crucial items. It all just has to come together (and it starts with picking the perfect build and then being lucky enough to receive the perfect items and avoid one-shot deaths, etc etc - a single death can result in a player with much less irl time ending up winning something).

Besides all that, from a purely gamey perspective: Ingame play time would be a hassle to track. It would need to be calculated for each HCSSF character and then added together at the moment any of the event goals gets achieved.

In the end, picking HCSSF makes the event as fair as it can be. Just as in sports or any other competitive playfield, people having more time for said activity will theoretically be at an advantage (though I do maintain that a lack of skill & luck eliminates said advantage).

Having tons of time and skill beats having a lot less time but more skill though and that’s not good balance.

Maybe difficult to track, but that way it would be fair.

Now the event isn’t very interesting for the vast majority of players as they don’t have he time.

It doesn’t matter if their skill isn’t that good. If only played time counted they would still have a chance and that would make participating interesting.

It’s like havin a dream. That dream is crushed by the setup.
This is making me want to try it. I know a build that can at least do Atziri pretty damn fast, using garbage eq.

They don't know what hiding is... they don't know what dodging is... they are morons.

In other sports you can’t really do it, here you can.

If you want the best to win take irl time out of the equation.

It’s not hard to understand.

It's a spectator event, like every other competitive video game. The only difference is that anyone with enough time can enter (instead of a closed invitational).
I look forward to seeing all the new RIPs on ladder. =^)

First Elder Kill: $1000

Is it only T16 Elder, or any red tier Elder, or T1 Elder also would be fine?

Grinding Gear Games Employees (and Zizaran) are not eligible for prizes.

How about players who do beta-testing of the new patch - are they allowed to participate? They've seen some of the new staff and will have advantage over others.
retired from forum because of censorship and discrimination

People are being upset the race is only for 1%. Why don’t you try and become that 1% instead? Oh you don’t have the time or the skill to be one? Why should you deserve anything from the prize pool then? Only best players deserve the prize, that s how any video game works. Anyone can become the 1%.

Being the best has, however, nothing to do with spending every day playing 24/7.

These people could win even if they died with 10 characters.

This is why played time in game should count.

Quality over quantity.

I highly doubt that. I m pretty sure first 15 kills will happen within the first week or close to that. First shaper was done like within 3 days back in 2016. Even if you play 24/7 you could allow yourself to die 1 or 2 times max. And nobody can play 24/7, I tried 21 hours a day before with only 3 hours of sleep and it was really hard to stay focused on the game with such little amount of sleep. It s extremely unhealthy too. I m going to attempt this race but with having a full time job it’s highly unlikely I ll be able to win anything.
