What will happen to 6 linked items in Path of Exile 2?

Since it is a almost complete rework of core mechanic I wouldn't be surprised if GGG decides to go for the same solution as when closed beta/open beta transition took place - full standard wipe.

Standard will never be wiped

Simply put, we don’t know. GGG will do something, but we don’t (I doubt they do) know what that will look like.

I asked my magic crystal ball and it told me that we will be able to grab a big pot of petroleum jelly and then shove our old 6-links right into our a*piep* because ggg does not really care about standard at all!

they won't be able to. the entire system is changing. you can't have it both ways.

change is coming. don't be afraid, and don't look back.

of course they will be able to do it.

sorry for wirting psuedo-code:

itemHasSockets: boolean;
skillGemHasSockets: boolean;

if (itemHasSockets) {

if (skillGemHasSockets) threw new WrongGameVersionException;
} else item.socket = current.skillGem;
}

no need to tell me it's not a full code - its just to show the idea.
My guess is hat thy will introduce special currency, that would allo guaranty making of single gem into 6-slots. And that currency would be be awarded on account that have 6-linked items.

Of course practically all that will be done in standard league, so... who cares?
Everyone will be playing new league will absolutely empty stash anyway.
There is a LONG thread about this.

No reason to start another one.

Without GGG saying anything it makes less sense to discuss again.

And I think they won't respond the next 6 months minimum.
GGG will give you a set number fuses for every 4-5-6 link item in your STANDARD inventory.
Then there will be a Bench option to use those fuses one last time to modify old skill gems to have up to 6 sockets. This is in parallel to the new method of working with socketed skill gems.

BONUS- creates a way to use up all those now worthless fuses and even allow trades for that one guy who only uses one set of armor for all his standard builds.
(but that's okay because there all ranger and it really is a near perfect QotF) /s

requirement merchant option to trade in fuses for Chaos.

those will not be rewarded as fuses though.

and giving 1500? Jeweller's/6-link would mean funny things is someone only has like unique tab and 4 normal tabs :D

maybe add that 6-socket recipe for gems and gave equal amount of jeweller's as remove-only tabs?

a bit OT, but i really like how they are making linked gear less valuable but at the same time makes dropped upgrades more valuable.

I totally agree, the change is a really good one for the future of the game imo.

Sucks for 6L collectors in standard though :)
