What will happen to 6 linked items in Path of Exile 2?

Hi.

One of game activities I do is collecting 6 linked items for Unique Collection Tab.

Now I am worried if buying or crafting 6 linked item at its current cost will become futile in Path of Exile 2. Then it would be not as worthwhile and enjoyable.


What will happen to 6 linked items in Path of Exile 2?


For example, when an item's 6 links are removed from items, would players receive an item to of some value?
If yes, what would such item do? Would it act like Fated Connections for new skill gems?
If it is currency, what value would it have? 1 divine orb or 1500 fusing (6000 jewellers orb) or none?

Depending on the answer, I can decide whether to do a massive sale xor chillax.

Simply put, we don’t know. GGG will do something, but we don’t (I doubt they do) know what that will look like.

I'm more questioning why anyone would ever use anything except for Kaom's Heart for a life-based build in PoE2... Gonna be a really desirable item for sure.

I hope they just leave existing 6L items alone.

Hey if players like to use 1 6L instead of 2 6L, fine by me.

100% of 6L items will be in standard so it will not intefer with league players.

Exactly. But I do worry about my Oni Goroshi swords... :(

Exactly as mustard said, the concept of 6L armor will cease to exist. The new collectable will be 6L 21/20 gems... or thereabouts.

Standard is gonna get a huge shake-up. Better prepare :)

Since it is a almost complete rework of core mechanic I wouldn't be surprised if GGG decides to go for the same solution as when closed beta/open beta transition took place - full standard wipe. Not like there are any other good options to ensure any semblance of balance (even for standard league standards) unless they are willing to support two versions at once and divide player base.


EDIT: Or just force replace every item and prepare for avalanche of individual angry posts about every single "muh 3000 ex itemz ain't so hot anymore" case.

In one of the videos from exilecon Chris told that it will be a hard task to get all of our items converted to the ney skill and item system, but as we could see in the gameplay videos, when more than just two items were 6 sockets, the same will we get when it is converted. Means our items with now six skill gems in it will get an item what shows that you could put a six link or 6 sockets alike. The skill gems what have been in your item before then will be shown at the new skill tab where we will arange our links later. Nothing gets lost and all will be aranged in same manner as long it is no skill what no longer could be used, I guess this one will also be put in the new systems so you could remove it or replace it with new version. The other items with four sockets will later stll be items that could have a four link like combination.
I am sure nothing will get removed.
Remebering when there was a change to the juwel for skelleton mages, before we could use two and later the new one was doing two for one, but in the passive tree two were put in, but when hoovering over the juwel it told, remove it it could not be used longer. But it was not removed!
It will be fun to see how our old stars will look then.
