An idea on how to reward people who actually care for exilecon and actually watch the stream.

Before I continue I wanna say that I don't want to sound like an ungrateful entitled gamer, and I want everyone to know i'm grateful to GGG for even giving a chance for MTX rewards to people. That being said I feel there's enough RNG in the game for GGG to also add it to a reward system for watching the exilecon stream (and this is just my opinion on the matter). That being said the way it's implemented at the moment encourages people to just leave the stream running in the background and potentially get rewarded for it. In my opinion flashing some kind of code on the screen during the stream people who actually watch and care for the event can redeem for a reward (the code should stop working after 5 mins of it being shown on screen or something like that) is a good way of rewarding people who actually watch.
Either way I work on the weekend and will miss out on the livestream anyway sadly, so i'm not saying this just so i can "give" myself more rewards. That being said I see what people are saying in-game about how they plan on just getting rewarded by not watching while other people like me who for one reason or another can't watch it although they would love to feel left out.

Reward the people who actually watch is what i'm trying to say.

Yeah, except it's nighttime for the civilised world & anyone who's willing to stay up to watch Exilcon live would probably just be there.
I disagree. Let’s reward people for playing the game and not watching a boring convention-length commercial for the game. Let events like exile-con, announcements, get-togethers, parties, streams, etc. be totally separate from gameplay.

The idea of gaming companies offering any advantage, cosmetic or no, to players who watch certain content at certain times (which can be anything the companies like) is scary. Yes, I’m sure some already do it in some way or another, but I don’t find it acceptable nor would I support expanding that trend.

No incentivizing watching commercials, events, announcements, political messages, etc. What if Tencent mandated the games it owns offer special benefits to players who listen to a message from the Chinese gov’t or stream conventions about Chinese economic development/investment? This is NOT hyperbole giving what’s going on in the industry.

And no rewarding even seemingly innocuous social behavior, like streaming a convention. It’s just intrusive into what we’re doing in our own homes that day. Let me play on my own terms and watch what I want on Friday; don’t push me to “be a part of the community” in a way that GGG defines for us.

Nothing against anyone who is interested in watching Exile-Con, btw.
We're all in this leaky boat together, people.
If watching content has to be rewarded, then the content is not worth watching.

Next ppl ask for being rewarded to play the game. Ridiculous.
However, your begging has be served anyway... Even more ridiculous.
Let's explore new playstyles - Play it your own way, not just like the others.
Quality management is one of the most underrated success factors in every business...
They just try to get their numbers high. Simple as that. They have overlords now, so may be forced to make a good looking simple-to-veryfy report stats out to overlord.

Keep it in mind.
They kinda already lost many streamers and population due to extremely boring and buggy league, and may be, whole game. So..

Understand.
there's nothing to "understand".

the path of casino is what defines the game regardless it's a living slotmachine game... how come some of you don't understand this?

it's too hard to maybe give 100 coins or 150 for only once and move on with it? nope, they have to get their twitch going..

not sure why they want more players on their game tho, the more players online the less their servers can handle.

Very well put.

I think its fine.

if a player watches the 4.0 stuff and likes what they see they might feel more invested in the game and happy about whats coming long term. if they add these rewards people will leave a browser open just for the rewards, sure, but some will watch who maybe wouldnt have, and some of them will have a really positive reaction to the reveals, and that will translate into some of those people investing both time and money into the game.

thats fine, the mechanics for twitch drops are already set up and ready to go, many use them, the rewards are relatively small, cosmetic and digital, theres no cost in giving them out. its just a positive move for the game, players get some free shiney stuff and ggg get to show off what theyve been working on to more people. no reason to really read any more into it than that tbh, this isnt inching down the slope towards the apocalypse, morality isnt in flames, its just a little drop thing they can turn on with minimal effort that gives them a little promotional buff.

i mean, go watch The Century Of The Self and then tell me ggg giving away a weapon effect to some guy for watching their 4.0 live stream is what we should be up in arms about in the world of corporate promotion with a straight face.
I don't think it's a big deal, I just think that it isn't very ethical.
GGG will surely display 'Hey look, we had [this many viewers] during the exile con, that was a success !!!' while knowing very well that some ( potentially many ? ) of those accounts were just in the background to hope getting a free mtx, which will be of about the same level as when they anounced "Hey look, everybody is playing melee in Legion league, the rework is a success !".

There is way worse for sure, no wonder about that.

Then may I introduce you to the internet, people are a***holes. Though to be a pedantic a***hole, I don't think it's racist rather than xenophobic. Besides, the Aussies & Kiwis tend to have a decent sense of humour in this regard.

Nighttime might need to be hyphenated, but there was no misspelling (which should narrow my location down quite a bit).

On a more on-topic note, I'm not sure what GGG are hoping to achieve by this as I think most will have it on in the background (possibly while they are asleep for those in Europe).
