So as of a few hours ago today on 12/10/19, the official 3.9 Patch notes fully released. I did not see much information to both changes or buffs to anything in relation to this gladiator block build. Even though it seems that GGG is really pushing Bow Builds for the 3.9 league, does this build seem both strong and viable in any way for 3.9? Any additional thoughts and detailed information I / We should be mindful of; prior to starting our 3.9 journey while planning to fully use this build in a few days would be great !

Thanks!

I am planning on going with this build for my league starter. I genuinely thing it might be really good because this will be a boss centered league right, and blood stance bladestorm is really good single target dps for bossing.
Hi, is there a way to avoid running out of mana? With the 3 auras i don't have much mana left and i need to keep a mana flask running almost constantly to keep spamming Bladestorm.

Hi Robicno,

This build has mana sustain from getting a node of leech under Vaal Pact and Tetsudo where you can regain mana after block.

However, these 2 mana sustain is indeed pretty weak early because your damage not so big and your block is still unreliable. If you don't want to use mana flask early, you can pick Revelry left of Golem's Blood, and full the leech wheel under Vaal Pact to the Spirit Void node.

I've been playing a Lacerate/bleed gladiator this last league, (Lvl 93) it was easy for blight. But out of curiosity, yesterday I just swapped bladestorm for lacerate and went delving...depth 275 was a breeze. Tried maps, again a breeze. I noticed that bladestorm seems clunkier.. but I put a level 1 gem in my gear.

Liked it enough to try a new char on standard SSF... level 30 in about 3 hours...cant complain.

I use AXE and Shield, prefer survivability over damage, so tree is close to yours.

I leveled with perforate in sand stance til lacerate at lvl 12, swapped to bladestorm at 28.

For tree progression I prefer to follow physical damage side, head over to get armor penalty removed, then down shield damage and defences, rush to bleed wheel and crimson dance, then back down axe damage and golems blood. From there its head to life nodes...

Act 4 in 3 hours is fast for me.

Hey sluggersteve!

3.9 isn't changing this build at all. That being said, I am changing the build. I'm removing Bleed from the build for straight-up physical damage while also allowing Axes to be used along with swords. So very little will change. The passive tree will have a few new nodes while the Gems that focused on bleed will be replaced. But you'll notice (if you play Standard like me) that very few changes will be required to follow the 3.9 version of the guide (coming out tonight).

This build is SO easy to level. The having the triggers available early in the game is crazy easy. The only suggestions I have for everyone are: keep your eyes open for a hard-hitting Axe or Sword and go for the mana leech node on the tree pretty quick.

I hope you enjoy 3.9! Feel free to post or ask questions as much as you like!

Sweet Legendary_AK!

I think this is a great league starter as well. The blocking/tanky-ness along with the easy levelling with trigger skills will help with learning all the new boss battles. I'll have the 3.9 guide out tonight.

Hey Robicno!

alteisen612 answered well. It's good advice. If you're levelling, you don't have to have all auras on. Things will still die quickly. Once your gems level up a little more (dealing more damage) you'll find that the leech is plenty. I do run out of leech if I find I'm attacking without hitting someone (by accident) so I still carry a mana flask with me just in case.

Did that help at all?

Hey nicemoki!

That's great feedback! I'm glad your build is working so well for you! I hope you enjoy levelling with the new boss encounters and endgame! Great job flying through the game! You're faster than me ;).
