The new UI looks amazing can't wait to see it in-game awesome work =)
Any clue if there's going to be a character reset?

Most likely not. Character resets only seem to happen when there are MAJOR changes.

However, it could always happen. Nothing is permanent in the CB.

I was wondering this as well. Cause they are changing the Passive skill tree and so on. They could just respec everyone's points to not having been spent yet, but who knows.

Do you have a citation for this? I haven't heard of or read this anywhere.

This sometimes happened in the alpha, so it could be a possibility, though unless it's an uber balance change I don't really see this happening.

He says:
"In the next iteration of the passive skill tree we will have different starting points for each of the 6 character classes. This will help to further differentiate characters, as certain skills become much easier/harder to get depending on your class."
The new passive tree won't be coming for another month or so. GGG will make it very obvious if they plan to wipe the servers with an upcoming patch.

Now I'm curious. Maybe one final detail pass over in the alpha forum before it's finalized for the patch?

We do intend to deploy it to Alpha before Beta (even if only by a day), and will totally make changes to the UI even after this first initial deploy.

Our deadline is that we have very few days left before we fly out to do the PAX event, so we want it up on Beta and shown to be stable before we leave.

There's no character wipe or passive reset or league-reset with this patch (other than the awesome four hour competition that weekend). The passive skill tree changes are still a while away. Designing it is like doing a giant thousand piece jigsaw, but you have to make up the picture!

lol great description of the passive tree creation.

Anyway, I figured that for the first couple patches that alpha and beta would be simultaneously updated... which is pretty much what is happening...

Once there are more substantial breaks and differences possible between them, alpha will end up testing development branches and RCs...

We gotta let them get ahead of the curve though, after the major increase in workload that beta has brought on. As time goes on the distance between alpha and beta will grow probably... possibly to the point where week X alpha gets patched and becomes Beta week X+1.

Agreed. I'm going to try to get an unfinished copy of 0.9.1 up ASAP to Alpha (hopefully tomorrow), so there can be 1-1.5 days of testing of it from whoever is interested.

Later I'll be much more pleased if it's a week.
