The Press Tour is Complete - Legion Ascendancy Statistics

I miss Occultist.
The problem was not that Slayer was so powerful but that other classes were too weak. If all classes would be brought closer together we'd see a lot more diversity.
You know, GGG does most of us a favor by mixing it up. Many (if not most) of the POE players gravitate towards the path of least resistance. IF GGG didn't mix it up folks would likely stick with builds they know.

Heck, I didn't really want to try traps - but I enjoyed Arc Traps in it's prime. I didn't really want to try Winter Orb, but I did and was amazed. Same with Cyclone. Often we the players have this idea that we are melee focused, or ranged focused, or like slinging spells when in reality we just like to have a build that is somewhat easy to play and which looks and feels good.

The conclusion I have reached? Be happy that GGG mixes it up and don't fight the meta.....

(Quote got lost on posting, but following is to the dude above implying that we should be thankful for picking builds for us)

Now, are you trying to tell me that it is super cool that developers dictate the build I should be playing (or otherwise be gimping myself) and takes the builds I enjoy just to destroy them? All in the name of “we are doing you a favor, because you don’t know what you like, and I will tell you what you should like”?

I am an melee guy. Always was. Past 20 000 hours in all sorts of RPG/ARPG games I smashed stuff. Not with arrows, spells or other nonsense, but with slams, leaps, hits and cuts. I don’t need developer to tell me what I should be playing or what archetype I should like. How about developer that provides us with sandbox and toys just so we all could take any class and multiple skills and achieve same results within +/- 15% difference? Not saying all skills should be equal, but classes should have all more or less same capacity for given content. I don’t want to be forced to run around with bow and arrows or wands just so I can complete the tasks. I wanna pick a class I like, archetype I desire, and be able to do same thing as a guy with a wand or chick with a bow.

Bottom line, no, I don’t feel that ggg is doing me a favor by forcing my hand and choosing the build for me, if anything it is doing the opposite, stripping the fun out of the game for me.

The lack of balance is severely undermining the core game concept of the skill tree, in that any base can theoretically spec into any area.

In theory this should make for the widest possible variety, but with so many weak skills and ascendencies, it's no wonder that everyone will gravitate to the few skills which feel good to play without a ludicrous investment of time and resources.
Came back after missing a league, played a self-cast non-ED/Contagion Occultist. After 6th reroll in HCSSF, went with a cyclone slayer.

Reading this gave me comfort that it wasn't my reasonable skills' fault.

Problem is, that nerfing stronger builds every league and buffing weaker ones at the same time is not balancing. You cannot accurately adjust power level when you are changing both variables at the same time. For proper balancing you need a constant. On top of this you need to make corrections based on other factors, like given league mechanics that may be making builds more desired and popular, just like Cyclone or ED in Legion. If GGG actually tries to achieve balance - which I somehow doubt - they approach is wrong. They should assume base line performance (say completion of average tier 15 or guardian map) and inspect most popular build against it. Than adjust rest of the classes so each will have minimum one skill capable of doing same.

Do you like the new League? No ty, I dont like "Survival" games! (STD best league ever)
In normal RGP world there are Elves, Dwarves, Orcs but in Wraeclast we have evil race - Nerfs - they manifest in developers heads after every league, they control them. Statistics are their power.
This post just proves poor design and leading skills of the team. That is why the balance for this league was questionable. If all the ascendant classes would have close to equal percentage played, that would be a properly balanced game.

Who remembers this sentence regarding viper strike being a viable claw starter build (quote): "if the answer to that is not yes, then we fucked up..."

Anyways, very good game, I am playing it since the closed beta and I hope for the best.
