Your answer was great! Also, the game just kind of up and gave me a 6L iLvl 70 Destiny Leather, so I'm currently leveling up a Raider. I'm going for Ice Shot because 100% conversion is trivial (and lets me ignore Physical Reflect) and I couldn't justify trekking all the way to Elemental Equilibrium to make EH work. Maybe I'll try that in the future with a Scion, but I don't want to deal with the mess that will be leveling *that* to Cruel Lab right now for that double-starting-spot. >_>

I'm going for 7 Frenzy Charges to squeeze damage off Ice Bite and benefit from how easy it is to get those on Raider, with Avatar of the Veil for the effectively permanent Phasing and ailment immunity. Eventually I'll get all trials for the last Lab and grab the second Frenzy node. Also got around 160% Life from the tree with Acro and Phase Acro and a little bit of regen and leech, the rest are the surrounding Bow, Cold, Elemental, and Crit nodes.

I would ask a few more questions, particularly when it comes to gem links and such, but I think I can do reasonably well just exploring for now. Also 3.11 is just around the corner, so anything particularly specific I might want to ask could end up being obsolete in a week. Still, thanks for the advice. :)
Cool Pixelsummoner,

I'm glad the answer was helpful.

I love the Raider! I had a Raider guide a league or two ago that I just LOVED. The ascendancy is just so tempting in every direction. I sound like you have a real good handle on everything...well thought out. Great job!

I can't wait! And there's nothing wrong with keeping your 6L and continuing is standard. All the 3.11 changes go to the core game except for the Harvest gardening. So you'll still have lots of fun.

Thanks again :).

Firstly, total awesome guides. Thank you.

I've played through with a few different builds, died, a lot, and really like your "take it slow" and "be surprised with what drops approach".

I have a couple of questions:

I know you create a new guide for each major patch but do you also start from scratch with your characters, or just respec them as appropriate?

When you were working your way through to mapping did you run one character all the way, or did you put equal time into each to allow them to pass loot over, etc.?

I see from the comments you used to have more builds, what made you select these four to stick with?

I'm looking forward to playing along and trying some of your builds as they have mechanics I've not tried before. I'm also looking forward to stepping away from the time pressure of the league, maybe this way I'll actually get deep into the end game.
Thanks macnaus,

I really appreciate your thanks. I'm glad you like the guides.

I know it's hard for people to not be dissuaded by the speed of play of some streamers (for myself included) but I really love this game when I'm not in a hurry. I was surprised when I started guide writing how many people share the same preference. As you said, this will be the prefect league to reward any pace of player. I'm excited!

I have a couple of questions:

I kind of do both. I play these characters as well and throughout the league notice some things that I'd like to change...or that I just love and desire to keep league in/league out. So I'm always min/maxing each of the guides all league long (though I only make changes at each league launch). Sometimes, the things that GGG adds to PoE won't impact a guide at all and I can almost post the exact same guide. Other times, it requires a massive look. This league, going from 3.10 to 3.11, I am planning on overhauling the Slow Mo Zombies guide to add more survivability. And this would have happened no matter the changes GGG was making...though I do strive to keep things the same each league if GGG's changes "allow" it. This is because the endgame changed dramatically a couple leagues ago and it took some time to determine the "new normal" with the new content. Was previously was good survivability, is no longer.

Sometimes I make changes for the next league based on player feedback as well.

So it's a "league long" respec ;).

When you were working your way through to mapping did you run one character all the way, or did you put equal time into each to allow them to pass loot over, etc.?
I made one guide at a time. I started with the Zombie guide. Then a few leagues later it was RF. Then I was addicted and had to only make one new guide a league ;).

I love loot, but I don't like pointless loot. So when I was only mapping with Zombies, I only wanted the gear for my zombies to show. So I learned how to make my own filters. When I started running more guides, I actually had a separate filter for each of them. That was too much work though. And I found that as I played, for me personally, even though I was playing one of my guides, I was looking for gear for all 4 of them. So I made my guide specific filter to include all my guides.

So, now that I have all my characters around level 90 with mediocre gear, I take turns playing them each night I have PoE time. But when I was levelling them to test them, I'd get them high enough with OK gear to see how they'd actually do in endgame content. So at first it was just one character, but now they each get a turn (one per night) so I don't hurt their feelings ;).

"
I see from the comments you used to have more builds, what made you select these four to stick with?
Because my playstyle of "one-button" runs throughout all my guides, they can all "feel the same" even though the mechanics used are quite different. So when I make my guides, I want them to have different mechanics that new folk can learn from. So some life based, some ES based, some hybrid. I want a melee, a minion, a spell...and RF is just cool. There are too many amazing mechanics in the game to cram into only a few builds. So like you said, I had to choose. The four that I have currently have the most variety from each other and have the ability to properly start a league and clear it well. I have LOTS of build ideas that would work well as guides I think, but they need to be different enough from each other as well.

The reason I cut the Raider from my list instead of the Gladiator a league or two ago (both melee) was because the Gladiator was way more natural to level and gear. The Raider required lots of Attributes on her gear. That's easy enough to deal with but can really impede your levelling if you don't get the right gear to drop. The Gladiator is the easiest levelling guide I have.

It's actually the hardest part of all this for me...only having four guides. But the amount of time it takes to play them throughout the league to make sure they're "up to snuff", to take time to have quick guide replies, and min/max them all within 2 days (after patch notes but before league launch)...I discovered that 4 guides is my max.

And I tell you...SRS is my favourite skill and it's not in a guide. Every league Slow-Mo Zombies is SUPER close to turning into an SRS Guardian.

I don't know if I answered your questions to indirectly or not, but I hope they helped.

Feel free to ask anything else if you like.

I hope you like 3.11! I'm really excited about it. Thanks again for such kind words. I really appreciate it.

Thank you, Wrecker.

That is the most comprehensive reply I have ever received on the internet.

It clarifies all of my questions excellently, and I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Oh, I'm aware. That's the plan. It's just that we don't have the patch notes yet and things could change in ways that affect the choices I'd make very shortly. :P

But since you also play on Standard, I'm curious about one thing that's not actually build-related directly, but:

How do we get crappy white low tier maps after upgrading the Atlas? To note, I'm on SSF. I realize I could probably buy any number of those on demand if I was on trade.

I'm not quite there yet, but that Occultist (I made some tweaks and have a couple more to do after the new Cold DoT brand drops, by the way! :D) will probably have no trouble pushing to Yellow maps / doing the first Watchstone loop even on my current gear... But I like raising other characters and I really like taking them to the Beach right off the heels of Act 10 Kitava to get a temperature check on how strong they are based on how easily they can deal with Glace.

I'm not sure if I should be concerned about my ability to get those low-tier supplies in the future when I have something that can deal with the odd Shaper or Sirus (one can dream) and then want to bring a new baby up and the only thing I have or can get are middle-range tier 4 stuff that they're not actually geared to tackle (well) yet. That Atlas Bonus is making me skeptical that I'll ever see tier 1 maps in the future. .-.

Hey Pixelsummoner,

I get white maps randomly from drops in high tier maps still. But they are more likely to drop by running low tier maps. I find that though I don't always have the maps that I want, I'm never out of maps. Just make sure that the filter you're using doesn't start excluding lower level maps over time. A lot of the popular filters do.

I honestly forget how the map tiers that Zana sells are influenced, but you can always check her stash every time you reset her inventory (by doing her missions).

I love these builds! As a dad and a casual player of so many of these dungeon crawler games, I am glad to see a guide that doesn't require me to log hours of time trying to get trade currency to get gear and coordinate my button pushing to within miliseconds or die.

Question: Do you have a dad build for Shadow? I like the summoner, but I just prefer the dialogue of the Shadow as he runs around.

That league where we got so much elemental resists from minions I did the SRS hungry loop totems on top of all the other friends! That WAS FUN!!!
5 Zombies double damage(Mon treguls), 11 skellies, 4 specters, 1 golem, 20 srs, on PS4 I had 10 phantasms too! Vaal skellies and walk away :)
A little more than one button though :O And blew up my PS4 in red maps!

Looks like my trickster is safe for league start, so I'll go get rich and then roll up your latest zombie creation so I can help in forum again mkay?

Good luck my friend, you do soooooo much!!!

I was HOPING for that raise zombie SLAM tag... oh well we can dream!
I will wear your ghost and you will die twice, against me and for me.
That is some cold blooded shit to say...

Hey Shier_Terror!

You're very kind to take time out of your day to be so thoughtful. Thank you. I really appreciate your note. I'm really glad you like them.

I can only handle four guides a league. I wish I had the time to make one for each ascendancy. But I can't. I have a Caustic Arrow Trickster that almost made the guide cut a while back. I can fix it up for you quickly and send you the Community Pastebin if you like.

Hey GrunkleBob!

It's always a pleasure :). I hope all your other builds fail so you come back quickly ;). It's always a pleasure to have you around but please never feel obligated. Have fun with your 3.11 Trickster!

And thank you as always for your kind and thoughtful words :)
