Spoiler
I always suspected that Harbingers were future versions of either Exiles or the Templars. The fact that they used souped-up versions of familiar skills was a big flashing red light. Still, given how dimensions work now, they could just as easily have been alternate dimension versions of Exiles, Templars or something else entirely.

Very nicely done.

I feel like they left us hanging with the Harbingers, like a show that ends a season with "To Be Continued" but then is cancelled (I'm looking at you "My Name is Earl").

The conclusion I came to was somewhat similar to the OP in that the celestial stuff with harbinger and shaper were somehow linked and it was actually somehow connected to the initial introduction of the Shaper/Elder storyline, which came in 3.1 (Harbingers came in 3.0). Almost as if the Harbingers were providing a warning about the Elder coming in the next patch.

Who knows. I personally feel a little let down. What were they a harbinger of? If it was just the Elder, that's also a let down.

There is still time for them to figure out what to do with them. At least now we are one step closing into connecting both of them together unless GGG just decided to just turn that idea into the chat gem.

As for the link between Karui and Ezomyte, it might be a reference to the story in lore object Kitava's Hunger I.

I've also discovered that Eternal Empire also contains fossil chests. Time to look for the link of delve and eternal empire.

Nice write up!
It was very interesting to learn some of the lore.
Somebody far more familiar with the lore than I am will have to find the exact quote but Niko worked mining for the Empire before the sulphite drove him mad and got him exiled.
niko was working with the templars.. the templars found the azurite with niko and he went insane mining it ?, they exiled him to wraeclast to die but well we know.. he's paranoid that they are still watching him.. (the templars)

he explains this if you have him in your HO on "Oriath"..

interesting enough I believe either Aul or the other two bosses down in delve had a big role in niko madness but of course that's me..
