We don't allow scam reports specifically naming or identifying players on our forums or in-game, as we want to avoid situations where players are witch-hunted or accused of scamming without any truth to those accusations.

In saying that, we do moderate and ban accounts for targeted scamming. If you do encounter this behaviour in-game please email us at support@grindinggear.com to report that incident to us - posting about it here on the forums will just result in the reported information being removed.

Any chance you could explain what you mean by "targeted scamming"?

Can you please clarify on this a little more?

If I understand this correctly. One would be free to post a report on forum including identification of player both on forum and in-game in case the report contain a concrete situation, that clearly show the reported person performing a scamming activity?

Will it still be considered a witch hunt if there would be a valid proof of scam performed by reported person?

Lets say a clip showing a full interaction with scammer since first sentence up to the replacement of item in trade window/taking items and ignoring.

Or what else would be considered "Truth" in those cases?
it's pretty simple. You are not allowed to post anything on the forum regadring a "scammer".
All that "prof" has to be e-mailed directly to GGG support who will then decide om what's going to happend.

The wording "targeted" scamming is refering to an account that keep getting reported for it and where the prof is clear.

You are not allowed to do that on the forums. It's still considered a witch hunt, regardless of the proof shown. So, you are only allowed to show the name to GGG support only, in a private message (through the forum, through e-mail), and not publicly.

However, PoE subreddit is not affected by the no name and shame policy, so all kinds of proof (like screenshots and videos) can be posted there, but no actions will be taken because for that you have to report it to GGG directly.

could you please for once define your understanding of "scamming" before you rip players off their support goodies they got for supporting your company?

Spoiler

i mean, people like me more often than once put the wrong items into the trade screen, some were incidents where items had the same names, sometimes i were just not careful and had one part of the name matched.

if all those guys reported me i would probably be gone by now.

is dropping out of a rotation a scam attempt?

is buying a item extremely underpriced (a rip off) a scam?

is borrowing items and not giving them back a scam?

is getting into a portal of a party member and finding a cadiro there a scam?

is luring another player into the bandits fight and killing (grieving) him a targeted scam?

--

you can, but you shouldn't, ban people on a wischiwaschi definition of mysterious "targeting scamming".

you come over as just trying to "scare people off", and so start the witch hunt you supposedly not want.

I don't like the idea of banning people for "Scamming" unless there are clear rules. Exactly what you described is why. Sometimes people consider the most random things as scams.

For example. If I see an item listed for 10ex and I send the person an offer for 9ex. Often times I will be met with "Nice Scam! I'm reporting you for scamming!" . Then they proceed to make 10 reddit posts about how they almost got scammed. The reddit droids then follow in line as if this guy dodged certain death.

Low balling isn't a scam. Nowhere close to it. If someone doesn't know prices, that's their problem.

I'm not a fan of people who scam, but the term scam means something very different to different people. I don't believe we should be banning people for "scamming" without extremely clear rules of "scam" that lead to banning. Anything that can be left up to interpretation is just a disaster waiting to happen.
Are you, people, serious?! Do you really think you could get banned for a mistake or two, or making someone offers they don't like?

Mentioned targeted scams can't be confused with mistakes so easily. It can happen that you put a wrong item in the trade window a few times, but you don't put a 6S item instead of a 6L all-day-every-day, and you definitely don't use a fresh account for it.

yeah I don't see the problem either.
For me the rules are clear.
