To all German Telekom (or 1&1, ...) users who have lagspikes

Just got off the phone with Telekom again. After 3+ weeks of almost daily contact i got in contact with someone who actually had a fucking clue. He actually looked at the WinMTR logs i sent him and looked through this thread https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2453991/page/48#p22142383 and saw all the other WinMTR logs. It's a peering issue and they have no interest whatsoever in fixing it.

Their best solution: start a forum or facebook thread and get as many people as possible to post, so maybe, just maybe, one of the people from Telekom will look at it and do something. People have tried that for many years though and it doesn't help at all.
Simply put: if you're stuck with Telekom, 1&1 and whoever else uses their network, then you're simply fucked and can't play PoE without a VPN.

My advice: cancel your Telekom account anyway. Vote with your wallet. We'll never see a change as long as the Telekom has their monopoly. German internet is a fucking joke and it's all Telekom's fault.

I'm only sporadically playing POE, so I've just now run into these issues and have not had the time yet to dig through the entire 50 page thread.

If it's on the side of the Telekom, why has this only started appearing this year? I remember playing POE without any issues whatsoever. Did he elaborate on the technical details?

Cheers
For you it only started to become a problem this year.
For me it started to become a huge problem last summer.
The oldest thread i could find with this problem was 5 years old.

The Telekom customer support basically confirmed that it was a Peering issue. So Telekom and other providers are having a big dick contest to see who ows who money and if they don't pay, the traffic gets fucked. The German Wikipedia article (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peering) even mentions that there's allegations that Telekom is artificially slowing down traffic!

If you want to learn more, just google for Telekom Peering or look at the WinMTR logs in the linked thread and google for the IPs were packet loss happens. You'll find a lot more information about what's going on and how Telekom really don't give a fuck about you.

bump
other games runs fine. its ggg`s fault...
same with low fps and crashes.

i have internet from 1&1 and download is a joke. but i have no lag in diablo3 and other popular games.
Well it's be proven 100% that there is a peering fault between German Telekom network and GGG's ISP.
GGG doesn't have any kontrol over this and if the 2 ISP's can't / will not find a solution then only thing GGG can do it find a other ISP. The problem here is the contract between GGG and the ISP.

I am not saying that there isn't problem with the GGG code in Legion since I don't have any problems playing in standard (can others having problems in Legion confirm that they can play in standard without problems?), but this is a ISP problem and not a GGG problem.

If the ISP the Blizzard use for Diablo3 uses a other Peering connection in German Telekom, then this is why you don't have any problems with that game.
The thing with Diablo 3 is that Blizzard has natively European servers in Paris. But, I've actually tracert'ed to their American servers and played a few minutes of D3 over there. It is also 100% routed via Telia servers:

I have quite a bit of latency (100-200 ms), however not the kind of lag spikes I am experiencing in POE.

Can't confirm the Standard thing. For me, its just as laggy.

What I did notice however is that it is completely instance-dependent. There are instances of areas in which I have a 16ms ping and everything is fine and buttery smooth. And then in others (even of the very same area, e.g. Desecrated Chambers) I suddenly have constant 200ms with lag spikes of infinity.

Well even if you succeed in circumventing that certain ISP, PoE server itself is a world-wide shitshow of clusterfuck, so you are out of luck either way.

If I should cancel my DTAG contract because of peering issues; can someone recommend a better ISP in Berlin? I currently have a MagentaZuhause XL contract.
