I think I'm getting too old to game

I'm 23. I log for like two three maps tops and think about all the other things I could be doing. Like welding a my sand rail. Or biding a job. Or spending time with my family. I used to be an addict like even skipped almost a whole semester between junior and senior year of HS just playing skyrim and D3 much to my parents chagrin. Now I cant even do 30 min.

^^^ Dude, right? I'm right around there and anything with buttons, guns, or monsters is just sploosh. I'm probably gonna be 80 years old, grinding harder than I am now.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.
When I was 23, Pong was popular. It wasn't a game that could suck one in for hours though. I remember staying up until 3:00 am playing Civilization when I was older than 23 though. Even though I'm now retired I play less but still play a few hours per day.

Anyway, I wouldn't say you're getting too old. As the years go by you may find that how much time you spend gaming fluctuates significantly from year to year, at least that is my experience.

you are able to do other things. liking video games doesn't mean you now have to like them and have to play them forever, obviously.

in your case it sounds like you probably should be doing other things. ignoring that and continuing to play would be defining your addiction
Am 40 and still going. But it s hard with kids-wife-job-sport. I sleep 6 hours a night that s where i take from the gaming time.

You have brought this up before. It isn't about age but what you want to do with your free time. It sounds like you feel gaming is a waste of it so maybe time to either take a break or move on.

Look at that gaming granny! Although retirees (if lucky) have more leisure time.

That's exactly it.

Aim_Deep, your OP reminds me heavily of my eldest brother. He told me and my middle brother we would grow out of gaming, presumably because that's the way he felt when he hit a certain age. He was the kind of person that, for lack of a better term to use on these forums, obsessed over optimisation. For him, it seems that gaming eventually felt suboptimal in trying to maximise his "real life success." The thing is, I've tried that dogged pursuit of "s u c c e s s" throughout high school and college, and that's not the kind of life I can live. Gaming is one of the best ways for me to destress; things like 15 minutes of meditation per day or whatever is more "optimised" for you Type A world-conquerors won't cut it for me.

But there's nothing wrong with it if you prefer that path. Go ahead and find more happiness and make more impact in the real world. We won't fault you for leaving us.

You are only too old for e-sports, not normal gaming.

11.3 million raised based on watching voice actors play d&d.

It's not so much the gaming, you're just finding yourself more motivated to devote that free time elsewhere.
Yep, totally over league play.
