Why scepter and not dagger?

Just downed A10 Kitava and 3rd lab with this build, pretty fun and solid damage with super-crappy gear. Thanks a lot for the guide :-)

I have been getting lucky and had an Exalt drop, so I'm wondering how I should gear up. I have been playing staves until now, but I see you had a change of heart about those (except for endgame).

Do you think it is better to go scepter + shield until going staves for endgame ?
If yes, what would you suggest as a good scepter until I can craft what's in your PoB ? Should I stay with The Princess ? Go to Cerberus Limb ?

Also, is it better to buy a "cheap" eva/es 6-link body armour, or to go Carcass Jack and 5 link it ?

From what I see in PoB, I could:
- Switch to Cerberus Limb/Light of Lunaris
- Get a cheap eva/es 6 link
- Cover my resists with rings/amulets/helmet
- Get a nice 25% conversion glove pair
- Get nice 25%ms+ boots
- Get a good stygian vise with an ES/Onslought jewel

-> That should get me rolling through maps until I make bigger buck, does that sound like a good plan ?

Finally, I have a conversion question. Do we get more than 25 from gloves and 40 from watcher's eye ? I can't find any more on the tree.
Until I have the watcher's eye, are other support gems better than cold to fire / hypothermia ?

Nice, glad people like it :)

Yeah, for lower budget it is imo better to go shield/sceptre (it is anyway just 4 respec points) and then switch to Disintegrator for maximum DPS (or just stay with sceptre/shield and get nice multimodded one).

You can go Cerb Limb or Doryiani's Catalyst with Light of Lunaris, both will work just fine. Or get some cheap dagger with chaos conversion and some spell damage/cold damage/crit etc.

Otherwise your plan sounds good, for body, another option is to go with 5 linked Restless Ward, that one should provide you a lot of survivability (and that extra movement speed is nice as well).

And yeah, we convert only 65% of our physt to cold, but then we have some phys as extra cold from Hatred itself, Taste of Hate. All of this is then converted to fire. And yeah, before enough cold conversion and chaos conversion, best is to just use Hypothermia/Controlled Destruction instea of Cold to Fire. We do not scale fire damage directly anywhere, so it will be fine. Just remember to switch from Purifying Flame + Combustion to like Wave of Conviction or Frost Bomb, possibly with curse on hit before ass mark ring if not using Cold to Fire support gem.

Honestly, just for the implicit and I was already using sceptre for limb version, it doesnt really matter. Even though, I guess now with these new runic daggers, daggers might be better (and cheaper option).

Until better staves I for one leveled with foils for the 14 range. It was awesome! Best build I have played for sure so far. I will say that I spend some time reteaking my choices for leveling for maps because I went for more dmg and realized that maps scaled the monster HP buss way way more. I needed more ES. So, now I can run T1 and 2 maps with no issues and will be reinvesting in to dmg as I can.
Any way to make glacial cascade work with this build? I replaced controlled destruction with it, but looks like dps loss.

Tbh I went for most damage nodes first as well, the key is to just kill everything while leveling :d (also SC not HC, so I don't really care about survivability that much while leveling).

Well, the good thing about BV is that it do not stacks with cast speed, and when at 10 stacks I don't think there is any spell that can compare to it's damage outside of some channeled skills when ignoring cast speed, so BV is best choice here. Alternatively, if you would want to use different spell for Cyclone CwC it would probably be Soulrend, but that is probably worse because you would want also GMP for it, and that is 4 links lost with almost no damage bonus already, sadly.

Small udpate:

Added low level Delve video, mostly just showcasing the general playstyle using shield setup with shield charge, what is extremely fun imo (also, new Shield Charge with animation cancelling feeels extremely smooth as you can see). I am very tempted to just rename the build to Fidget Spinner simulator :D

EDIT:

Also, updated banner image to triple spin! (BV + Cyclone + Vaal RF):

Here, example on how the chaos conversion works:

So, imagine we have 25% non-chaos as extra chaos.

So, our base damage is 100. We get 25 extra chaos from it.
We convert 60% of it to cold and get also additional 25 extra cold (hatred), now we get 85 cold, and 21.25 extra chaos from it.
Then we convert 50% of cold to fire + gain some extra (so, lets say 90% with Herald of Ash), we get 76 fire, and 19 extra chaos from it.

And now, increases/reductions/more multis apply based on converted and base values (and effectivity is based on how much damage was converted, e.g 10% increased phys with 90% conversion to cold is 9% increased cold etc).

Thank you very much for this explanation!

So it means, non-chaos as extra chaos happens already always BEFORE the the other conversion takes place. fully phys dmg as extra chaos, then phys to cold as extra chaos, and then cold to fire as extra dmg in our example.

And PoB is already calculation this in a correct dps show?

Yeah, exactly. You can see this in the Calcs section in PoB under Blade Vortex (just hover over each base stat and it will tell you how much was converted to what type of damage).

Aproaching lvl 80 and having 5.5k Shield currently, still my biggest issue is leeching enough shield and i think "Light Eater" would make a hugh difference in survivability.
At least until you get that juicy overkill rolling

Gonna try to take only the first .3% note first

#edit
Just did my first rare T6 map, 2 double Essence spawns and the legion went deathless, this feels already way better with just .3% more leech

Hmm, I will experiment with it a bit, maybe you are right. But, atm I feel like I already have enough leech on my char (but, also, I have leech on amulet that I randomly picked up, so I guess maybe without it it would be worse).

Also, I found out that Rippling Thoughts is pretty awesome early unique, before trigger crafted weapon we can just socket combustion inside, and the Harbringer boost is pretty awesome as well. And the item is like 4c, so, very very nice.
